Hi,

I have a just refinished early Adam Monte Carlo with 8 points and lots of inlays - rosewood, curly maple, ebony and mother of pearl.

Just got the cue back from Proficient Billiards where Scot Sherbine did a refinish and rewrap and built a new shaft for the cue with the original ringwork. I also have a second shaft with a black collar with silver ring.

Pics can be found on Proficient's site here:

http://www.proficientbilliards.com/cues/Adam/monte_carlo/index.html

Note the second shaft is not shown and some of the pics are a bit muted. If anyone is interested, I can take some additional pics. I've also spent some time hand buffing the cue to get even more luster on the finish.

I'm really not a big collector, so I'm honestly not sure how to price the cue. I'm interested in more info about it from the experts and offers from anyone who collects Adam cues or is otherwise interested in a fairly fancy, nice hitting cue.

Thanks,
J

Adams cue

I just sold a pair of them to a collector for $850..Not sure if I gave them away or not..They only had 1 shaft each but they had the old Adams JP's on them with the lion logo on the top..Hope that helps you and good luck with your sale bud..They are very cool cues and they play great..

Hello J, these cues were made starting in the 1970's and through the Mid 1980's, in most cases the only way you can tell the early ones from the later ones is by the pin and the bumper. The pin on the early ones will be sharp and pointed and the bumper will be round and smaller centered in the middle of the butt cap. The later ones will have a rounded pin and the bumper while still round will cover the entire bottom of the butt cap.

There is really not much difference in value between them and unfortunately Adam cues do not sell near their real value because they were made in Japan. Personally I think they are nice as the Palmer cues that were made during the same with the only difference being that the Palmer were made in the USA as far as quality is concerned. In fact the later Palmer Cues the PM and PB lines were made by Adam in Japan.

Restored in mint condition the cue is worth between $650 and $850 depending upon the market and finding the right buyer, but in this market I doubt you can get that for it. I would save the cue to sell later or use it as a player, they certainly make great playing cues.

Hope this helps

Great info, thanks. That is the range I was thinking/hoping as well given the few examples I've seen for sale. It definitely plays well, so I will probably keep it for now. Was just testing the waters as I would like a Titlist conversion cue, but need to sell some to afford it now.

Appreciate the input.
Jeff
