wow i like those, a friends mom passed up a set for $20 at a garage sale a few years ago, I heard about it a couple months after she saw them, there was no shot at getting them back. When she said "I thought they might be worth something" I went numb and fell out of my chair.....thud!!!!. Ya think lady????!!!!! Dumb......nevermind.


nice balls, take $20? for them so I will be sane again???
 
I never had a chance to study ivory balls like these, but one thing which amazed me is that the radial cracks surround a number on every ball. As if the manufacturers put a number in a cirle in some spot which was the same for every single ball. Center of a bone I guess?

You should read this article about how few ivory balls you can get from a tusk (and the tusk has to be the perfect size):

Seriously, I would think an isolated ivory ball may sell for around $50-100, but a beautiful full set like this would easily be in the thousands.
