Yes. Why have 3/8 14 when you can have 16?So does the tpi of the pin used.
One genius at a pool hall here insisted his Falcon hit awesome because it had 5/16 18 instead of 14.

Just sand all the markings off. They can all be repainted later.Not sure how you could disguise the butt? Blue tape some paper around it and leave a section of the grip area uncovered? Then you'd have guys saying "well I don't grip the cue there so that changes the way it would feel to me"
Joints are much easier to do with some blue tape, but the whole butt with blue tape would bring up another set of questions.
