Full splice vs. A-jointed cues vs. Full Core

To the original question. It seems silly to be asking people what you should experience when playing with different types of cues if you cannot tell any difference. In that case there's no difference. :)

On A-jointed cues, you can add weight in the middle.
Full-splice or full one-piece core , you can't.

i'm not too sure if that statement is totally correct.

I add a 1/2" weight behind my pin on full cored cues to create forward balance preference.

The "hit" of a cue is DIFFERENT for every player. I have hit with cues that costs thousands of dollars that I wouldn't play with and have owned cues and played some of my best pool with that cost less than $5 to make.

I worked at a pool hall for several years when I was in my teens and I played with hundreds of cues and repaired cues and they ALL hit "different". Some "similar" to other cues, but none of them hit the "same".

It ISN'T how much the cue costs, who made it, or what it is made of! It is "does the cue COMMUNICATE with YOU?". It doesn't matter how much it communicates with WIllie Mosconi or whomever owned it or made it, it matters how much it communicates with YOU.

By "communicate", I mean "hit" or "feel". If the player can "communicate" with their cue, they KNOW what reaction is going to happen when the tip strikes the cue ball with the proper stroke.

When I look for a cue to play with, I look for the cue that "tells me the MOST".

That is hard to explain, but anybody who has played pool at a higher-than-average-Joe-level will know what I am trying to say.

It is kind of like the HAMB thing. If you "hit a million balls", you will figure it out. If you try enough cues, you will find one that has the "hit" that talks to you.

That is until you want something MORE. Then the search for the "Holy Grail" cue begins.

Aloha.

I was just curious of some of the experts could try to explain some of the "hit characteristics" of each type of cue construction.

I have played with all 3, and I don't understand why there is so much controversy over which is "best"... I have hit with a cue in each category that all play relatively similarly.
I have enjoyed the hit of of full spliced cues. Some, not all. Full splice house cues are usually not too special. I had a Jerico sneaky with wood to wood joint. Didn't realize how special that was til after I sold it. I've hit a jacoby half splice that was nice. A jacoby sneaky had a nice hit.

Just in case anyone dredges this thread up again in four or five years and puts any weight into the @Ascue claim that he is one in 100000, they should read his other post about his 'full splice' jump break cue: https://forums.azbilliards.com/threads/full-splice-lost-art.571646/
Maybe someone SHOULD do a 'cue construction comparison test'. That way after 'ol assq failed miserably to identify his own q he'd just fade away. ;) Seriously, the guy won't even listen to q-makers who've been in the game for years. .001 my ass.

Not sure how you could disguise the butt? Blue tape some paper around it and leave a section of the grip area uncovered? Then you'd have guys saying "well I don't grip the cue there so that changes the way it would feel to me"
Joints are much easier to do with some blue tape, but the whole butt with blue tape would bring up another set of questions.

Blue tape changes the hit of the cue...

All of what you say may be true or not but a select few of you act worse than teenagers and Mr Garcia are as bad as any. You say you are cue makers but you conduct yourselves as trash so from what I see.........

You were not insulted originally by anyone. People disagree with you. You then called me a dipshit when I asked for studies and evidence.

Ignoring people and ideas is a great strategy for remaining ignorant.

Seems you have trouble understanding everything on this forum.

Cue construction, Fargo rate, I'm guessing you're in the group that doesn't understand how a template rack works.

Keep posting, it's hilarious

Because you say I don't understand means nothing. Put that in your crack pipe and suck on it.
