Fun and Frustrating practice game

Try this out and see how far you can get....

To start take 3 balls(1,2,3) and rack them on the spot and then go break and run them out in order. You don't need to make a ball on the break, there is no ball in hand. try to string together 3 racks like this.
If you miss a shot you must start over again from zero racks won.

After completing that....

Take 4 balls(1,2,3,4) and try to string together 4 racks....

Etc....

at the end of all this, if you are ever in your life time able to complete the whole game you'll be unstoppable stringing 15 racks of 15 ball.

I don't know whether to thank you or curse you for sharing this drill. I'm going to try to get through to the end doing it one-handed on camera. Good thing my school break is coming up, I may need about 5 hours a night to get this done.
Awesome practice drill, thanks for the idea!

I do this only a little different.

You must runout three racks of three-ball in rotation. If you do that, then you move up to four-ball and so on. You must run three consecutive racks to move up to the next level. If you miss at all, you must immediately go back down one ball.

I can get to six-ball almost everytime. I've gotten to eleven-ball once. :)

that's a great way to do it because you're adding pressure so you're practicing similar to how it would feel in competition. moving down a ball will be painful and motivate you even more to focus. very cool

yeah but could you imagine "I just put a 10 pack of ten ball together", you break on first rack of 11 ball and you miss your first shot. "Dammit, now I have to put another 10 pack of ten ball together." Your asking to be admitted into the psych ward lol.

I meant to say that you only run a 3-pack at each level. I wish I could run a 10-pack of 10-ball. Only in my dreams. lol

you've got to learn to enjoy the mental anguish of setbacks like that. I've been trying an insanely tough drill for about two weeks now, several hours a night. After a few thousand times failing I realized it was more exciting than competing in the finals of a tournament. Each time I restarted the drill I thought this could be the time I am successful. It had the thrill of scratching lotto tickets all night, what a blast! I can say I am now addicted to failing. When you finally succeed it is heavenly.

Mine is a tweak of something I stole from a Mike Page video.

I break a 9 ball rack (just to practice the break) then I pull off everything except the 7,8,9

If I run them out I have earned the right to shoot at the 6 ball

so break another full rack and pull off everything except the 6,7,8,9

if you run out you earn the right to shoot at the 5 ball. and so on

the way its scored is with markers on the diamonds the first marker represents the ball you are on and only moves if you get out

the other marker moves every rack

once the rack marker catches up to the ball marker the game is over

I like your idea. I have done what the other guys have suggested but your way of doing it makes you think about the last three balls at nine ball and that is when you win. You have to make the nine ball. I was playing a regular customer some nine ball and talked to my coach about how I was making 80% of the balls but breaking even because I was getting down to the last three balls and having a tough out. My coach taught me how to play some safe shots when the table is about clear of balls and not having to go for the runout.
