Today I was scouting the internet I search of others that hand make their own cues and I happened upon an old fine wood working magazine of some guy explaining how he would lathe his own cue. If your interested in finding the couple page article the details are below. Have any of you run across information such as this for making cues by hand? This intrests me even though this is not the preferred method for cue making.

And the Real Name of the Fiction Author... Is Dennis Dieckman (Dieckman Cues)

Is it collectible?

I have the actual magazine in front of me if anyone would like to buy it.

Colorado Slim is what the author goes by.

JC

Sounds interesting.

Does he turn these on a treadle lathe?

Yup! Uses he teeth for those smooth cuts.

From what I can gather from the text and pictures it looks like a regular wood lathe with 3-point chuck, a steady rest, tail stock, and a drill tail stock. Nothing out of the ordinary in terms of how he does the process.

The gentlemen states he uses a “European style cue” where the end is the same size then at the middle it tapers.

Hey PT! Any chance you can find my great uncle Harry? He was last seen wandering into the jungle with a little blonde on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines, circa 1967. My family is still frantic! Loose ends and all that... Lemme know asap please???

I checked with a buddy of mine down there to see if he knew anything about Harry.
He took a pic for you. Looks happy to me, I would just leave him be.

Damn! Thanks Chuck!!!

But, uhhh... I guess Uncle Harry owes some $$$ to someone? And now of course there's the interest and all that.

I can't believe he's still with that blonde... he was married 5 times.
