Fun Poolhall trivia question....KEITH will know

There was a poolroom in Southern California(LA Area) that closed down some time ago.I believe it was only 2nd to Hardtimes(Bellflower)as far as action went. All the big name players would go there to match up and play tourny's.When Efren would come to town,he would stay with the person who ran this poolhall. Can anyone name the room in question and give it's location??

I will post the answer later:)

Bump.....Come on,I know some of you So. Cali players know this pool hall:)

Ok, I'll guess it's the Orange County Sports Arena. I just remember Efren showing up there once in a while.

Nope.Thats not it.Thanks for guessing though:)
Like I said,Keith McCready would know the answer to this.I watched Efren give him the 8 one night in this place.

Hint....Players that hung there were:Jeremiah Johnson,Snake,Jeff Patterson,Mexican Eddie,Arturo Rivera,Keith,etc.....I saw Mark Tadd in there one night too.But he didn't hang there like he did in Hardtimes.

Well hell's bells, with a clue like that I'd have to say it is Bob"s Billiards in Anaheim @ Beach and Ball. Been there numerous times myself. Am I right?

DING DING!!
We have a winner.Good guess.
Some interesting memories have I regarding this old, classic pool room. The place was owned by Bob Bell who was Robin Dodson's(formerly Robin Bell)ex-husband.I played a match against her there in the weekly tourney. The place was interesting. They had like 10 tables and none of them were the same! They had a couple of really nice classic brunswicks with the rounded edges.I don't think they had any Goldcrowns though.Anyway, that was one of the rooms I grew up learning the game in.A lot of the regulars stayed at a hotel right around the corner called "The Robin Hood Inn".Wow....memory lane....I was as green as a granny smith apple back then. Those guys LOVED seeing me come through the door...LOL...they knew when I showed up that at least one of them was going to sleep in a bed that night.

Awesome. Do I win a dream date with Shanelle?

Sorry Onepocket73 but your memory may be fading. The room was owned by Bobby Wallace. Joe Bell (Robin's ex) may have bought it afterward.

But yes, some great memories there. You always knew something was going to happen there. Once, "Little Jeff" Patterson was leaving the place and was in the parking lot but couldn't back his car out because some punks were standing right behind it. He asked them to move but they didn't, so Jeff throws it into reverse and hits the gas. The guys scattered but Jeff decided to chase them around the parking lot. Unfortunately, the cops were right across the street at that taco shop and saw the whole thing. Jeff got into trouble but it was a funny story. There are plenty of others but I don't want to bore everyone with them.

You are right about it being Joe Bell.I stand corrected and I do believe he bought it later.I could go on with stories from that place as well and I only hung there for a year.Have you heard from Little Jeff lately? What ever happened to him?Another guy I remember from there was Daryl. He hung at Aloha Billiards. He was a gambler and couldn't play a lick.Had a mouth as big as Texas.Do you remember him?

I ran into Jeff a couple of years ago at Danny K's, I think. We talked for awhile and I got the impression that he didn't play pool anymore. One of his old girlfriends told me he had some health problems. He is still in Orange County.

As for Daryl, I also saw him at Danny K's about a year ago. He was thrilled to show me his '56 Chevy that was getting worked on nearby. He said he rarely plays anymore but will come out for the fun of it. We traded phone numbers but never contacted each other. But yes, he used to talk a good game.

Others you previously mentioned, Arturo now lives near Atascadero and started playing tournaments again. Snake is in Kansas and still plays. Jerry Johnson is in Washington and still shoots. Not sure what happened to Mexican Eddie.
