I have been reading all the stories about Jack Hines and think of all the funny things that have happened to me - I have only been playing 2 years. What are your best stories - keep em true!

Here is mine:
My self, my brother, and a guy named Josh were going to a Fast Eddies Pool Tourney in Austin back in July (2008). Josh was always short of cash. I went and picked him up and he gets in the car with his small suit case (it takes 6 hours to get there and we were staying the weekend). We barely get on the road and he asked me if I want a Capri Sun to drink. He had a whole case of them in the back seat. My brother was sitting in the front. We get about an hour from the house and he asked me to pull over to go to the restroom - no problem. About an hour later we have to pull over again. Then we pull over again at a rest stop on interstate that has no bathrooms so he takes a leak in the bushes. We are about an hour outside of Austin and I noticed that he has finished the entire case of Capri Sun. He tells me to pull over immediately that he has to go now. There was no exit anywhere around. He is begging me to pull over anywhere so I pull over on the side of I-35 and he is pi$$ing by the back of the car. I am laughing telling my brother that I have never seen anyone who has to pee this much. Thats when my brother reached behind me and showed me the empty bottle of KD that he had been steading mixing with Capri sun for the last 5 hours. I was mad (could have gotten an open container ticket) so I pulled away and left him pi$$ing on the side of interstate. Josh just starts waving at the people passing by. LMAO!!! Then we get to Fast Eddies and he insists that he is going to double the $100 that he has on him. He was so drunk he just walked up to a guy playing and started hitting the balls on the table in the middle of a game. Told the guy that he wasn't going to stop until the guy bet him. Good thing security threw Josh out. This guy didn't want to take the drunks money. Josh was 3 and out in the tourney. The other guy finished 13th out of 120. This is my best pool memory to date. You just had to be there!
What do you have?

I have a story that goes a little like the beginning of yours.

After a few hours on the road, the 3 of us were feeling a little couped up and getting delirious. We all decided to pull over on I-80 for a piss stop. The guy that was sitting in the back seat was naturally last to finish...so I yelled "COP" just to be a jerk. Seeing him trot down the off-ramp (as he was trying to cut off the flow) with his pants drooping around his knees was beyond hilarious.

That occured on our way back from an event at Shooters in Olathe. The same guy above miscued just as Efren happened to walk by. The noise made Reyes wrinkle up his nose and my friends face to turn red.

Everyone needs a good friend like that. LOL

H&H Club

It was the early seventies and me and my buddies had a bit of hair and my beard wasn't looked on with great favor in many circles. Three of us had managed to get wasted by three in the afternoon. Make that W-A-S-T-E-D!

The H&H club was a very redneck bar down the road from one of my partner's houses but they did have cold beer and a pool table in the back room so it wasn't too unusual of a stop for us.

We were playing eight ball when these two big ol' country boys walk in, one is wearing a blue denim shirt and one is wearing a red plaid flannel shirt. They were both toting the six dollar one piece aluminum cues. They challenge the table and I stepped up my game a bit so that I would be the one playing them. One of them said since I was so good they would both play me at the same time. I told them there wouldn't be any days like that since they made it plain they were talking two innings to my one, not alternating with each other.

Red plaid broke, I shot, then blue denim came to the table to shoot. I thought they had swapped on me but wasn't too sure. Note what I said above about wasted. My partner came up to the table and commented, "I thought you weren't playing both of them."

"That's right!" I broke a lot of house cues in those days, often the quickest way to the door. The one I was playing with was straight taper ash with about six inches or so at the tip missing and the shaft was huge. I flexed the stick mightily and nothing happened for a second. When it did break it broke into three pieces with a sound like a pistol shot. The center piece flew across the table and hit blue denim just as he was about to shoot and he scattered balls everywhere. His partner was at the end of the table and purely by accident the sharp end of the stick came up almost against his windpipe. Recognizing this as a handy thing I held it there and cursed him for everything I could call him. This went on for several minutes until I finally ran out of something to say. I stopped and waited about thirty seconds, no comments.

I ran through everything I could think to call him again. Stopped again. He stood there for a long pause: "Ah, . . . um, . . . well, . . . . we didn't mean to upset you" Time to boogie so I flung the cue against the back wall and headed for the door with my partners. By the time we got to the door we were laughing our butts off. My car was parked by the entrance facing the highway. We were wasted but not so wasted as to forget that! Hit the highway laughing all the way home. Gave it a week or three to cool off and back in the H&H again.

Definitely fun times!
