Funds acceptance question??

OLD man...New to forum - Theoretically....For the purpose of this post please assume I'm an honest person and I have some small items I want to offer for sale and I am no longer in business and no longer have the ability to accept credit cards are most members OK with using PayPal? ZELLE? Would some want to send a check or???? FYI....CONUS only and most transactions would be under $50.00 - THANKS for any helpful comments :)

I am a PayPal user and can also do Zelle but prefer to do PayPal goods and services even if I have to pay the fee as I am protected. I will do PayPal Friends and Family with people that I am very familiar with.

Pay pal for me also, I try and talk to the person I am dealing with this way we both understand how the deal
is going down. I am old school, not much on texting but will do it sometimes. Tom

I will soon be 71 so I too am OLD SCHOOL in my dealings especially after being self-employed 99.8% of my adult life!! I'll be working on getting a PayPal account set up soon (y)

also, check with your online banking. I use Ally Bank, and they offer Zelle built in for free. It works great

I want to THANK everyone for their input as it does help me!! I'll be working on getting a PayPal account set up and keep those who PMed me as up to date as possible!!

Me personally I try not to use PayPal as they openly oppose the 2nd ammendment .. I do have an account with them but I have not used it in over a decade .. if I'm trying to buy or sell something I usually talk to the other person and figure out another form of payment .. if we can not agree on another payment method I usually just don't buy that item

I've sold and bought items on here by check, and never had a problem. In fact, I've mailed items before receiving checks, and mailed checks before receiving items. Never once have had an issue but will only buy and sell here from long time members. In fact, two members on here actually sent more than I asked for items. Your results may vary, but I feel if a long term member wants to ruin their reputation for a couple hundred bucks, that's on them.
I did have an issue once with a new member with less than 10 posts, and because of that I wouldn't deal with him. He was very insistent, and complained on here, not only about me, but other members that wouldn't do business with him. Really glad I held my ground and didn't give in.

Sounds like a good policy to me!! Even if a newbie is as old as I am!!

I will also say that a major red flag for me, is a new member, less than a month, that only has buy and sell posts. Depending on the amount, I might take a chance on a somewhat new member with a posting history of more than just buy and sell. Really is tough for honest new members, but that's just the way it is.
There is a lot of strong opinions on here, but I have found that business is business, and most here are very honest when it comes to business dealings.

PP no F&F. Goods and services only
So this is an important thing you need to note Old Iowan, when you allow the buyer to select "Goods and Services" that means you will pay a fee from PayPal for you to receive the money.

You need to price your items cognizant of that additional cost along with shipping so you don't lose money on any of your sales

DEFINITELY GOOD to know!! I will keep that in mind!! THANKS MUCH for the heads up (y)(y)

If someone will not do Pay Pal Goods and Services, if you are willing to pay the fee, then that might be a red flag, bc as of now, most sellers under $20,000 will not be reported to the IRS for Pay Pal goods and services transactions.

The IRS rules were supposed to change all the way down to reporting at $600 for sellers but at the last minute in 2022 that reporting change was NOT put into effect. No one yet knows if this will be revisited by Congress prior to the end of 2023 tax reporting year.

I am talking about reporting BY Pay Pal or E Bay TO the IRS.
