Funny observation about league players

I have been fortunate to always play on the top teams in whatever league. I like playing different teams in different places. Sure some I don't care to be at and certainly won't frequent but others are ok and I will go back. I am always happy to foster friendship and increase others skills/abilities. Do I dislike always having to play on xyz night yes. I guess being on a better team I get some satisfaction out of the fact that others are happy to play us.
I can't imagine being on a team that wins less then 20% of their games. I say that but if that was the case I would wear my teammates out trying to get them to improve.

If you work in a hospital, it's ED for emergency dept. We don't usually say ER

I think you and I view it the same and have similar experiences. I love going to different bars and playing, being on a better team (similar to you) just makes it all the more fun. The beauty is, most of those teams think we're just going into run over them but are genuinely happy when you spend a few minutes chatting about pool with them.

everyone misses, particularly non-elite good players who will occasionally play a shot that makes them look lile a rookie. Nobody deliberately loses to go to the losers side - it is better to go there late rather than early. Yes, there are those egos who say they are happy to be on the losers side after they get there, but this is ego - they were playing to win.

Double elimination gives the better players insurance but

Honestly, I have had my doubts, But I have seen it all too often in many places. Most tourney players know the field they are playing against. I'm not saying this happens regularly, but it does occur often just before the cut-off which is indeed later on into the tourney.
