Wonder who he's texting
You know, that drives me nuts. Around here, EVERY cop that is on a detail in this area doesn't feel like it is anything other than a chance to suck up detail money. About 40 percent of them have their back turned to traffic, another 30 percent sort of face traffic while staring down at their phones and texting or playing Angry Birds or whatever, I love the 10 percent that just frickin sit in their car and don't even bother to stand out and do the job they are paid for ... and the last 20 percent actually do their job and direct traffic around the work area.
Makes me want to vote for flag men in MA.
*edit* Oh crap, I just realized I might be heading for NPR .. sorry for my rant!
bet you have never fvcked off at work before have you? also it could be a break for them. cops do not have a scheduled break except for lunch and even then it is not guaranteed.
Yup, I have fvcked off at work before, yet at the time I wasn't being paid to keep people safe by directing them around hazardous situations.
While you may justify your not getting someone their McNuggets in a reasonable timeframe I don't appreciate going head on with another vehicle in a one lane situation while the officer that is supposed to be directing traffic around a hazardous situation is too busy playing Angry Birds.

*edit* also, really? a break for them??? Honestly! You think that someone hires them out to safely negotiate traffic around a hazard and yet they say "oh yeah, sure, take 10 or 15 minutes every so often to completely allow us to screw ourselves regarding liability, that's cool." Details are full coverage.
you should be looking at traffic instead of trying to figure out what the officer might be doing in his car.
in your first post you didnt just specify for directing traffic for a hazardous spill. all you said was towards and away from traffic.
edit: if there sole job was to direct traffic then ya they should be out there and instead of in their car.
Who said "hazardous SPILL" anywhere? I just mentioned traffic situations, in which any traffic situation that requires a detail should be considered a "hazardous situation". Never was mentioned a hazardous "spill". That would be a completely different entity involved.
sorry that was my fault. I read it while doing something else. not every situation requires that an officer be out of his car. especially if traffic is flowing with traffic signals/signs working properly.
Lesson 1 household budget cut is off by a decimal point. Lesson 2 isn't comparable and doesn't make sense.
