He had it done, I assume, to make his daughter feel better about hers, when she gets older.
The girl in the center is using sign language,, to sing for deaf parents, during kindergarten school concert.

You didn't read the copy, Ken ... the daughter has a birthmark and the father had a tattoo done mimicing it so she wouldn't feel any stigma about hers.
