Maybe located in a flood plain? I've seen several like that.

Keith

That house is located in Vermillion Parish. All homes there have to be elevated 10' in order to get insurance. This was a result of hurricane Rita which occurred right after Katrina.

Definitely a flood plain, you see those along the Missouri River in Omaha Nebraska also.

As far as this picture goes - it's a photo shop. Yes, it's probably on blocks in real life but I guarantee it's not that high.

Not a photo shop. Not the only house that high either. The tidal surges along Louisiana's Gulf coast can be devastating. My friend lost 11 head of cattle during Rita (2005/6?), found most of them several miles away. For us, Rita was the worse. Katrina was worse for southEast LA, mainly due to the levee breech.

Sorry if this is a repost, someone sent it last night
The 80's were more of a "landing strip". This must have been designed by a millennial...lol

On another note, I was playing league one night and barely missed hooking my opponent. He ran out on me and I said to him, "I missed that safety by a c*nt hair....and that would have been a good shot in the 80's!"

I was supposed to stay at the Salt Grass Lodge in Buras last weekend but we postponed til September because of that storm. There’s a bunch of houses like that, maybe not THAT high, but they normally have old skiffs, busted trailers, a few destroyed crab traps, and a bunch of old Gill nets underneath. They appear missing in this photo.
