Not sure why your people spent 2 winters there, sir!
I'm old enough to know better but I'm still young enough to enjoy all 4 of the seasons which are fall , winter , spring and finally road construction ha ha which others call summer .
Which can be just as hot as the winters can be bitter cold , I've experienced temps change nearly 100 degrees within 24 hours here in Montana .

Yep, altitude plays a big part in all of that. Here in the 'high desert', we can have 50 degree daily spread in temps, with 60 degree difference between high and low not unheard of. I have lost knee high corn and two foot tall tomatoes to frost in July on at least two occasions.

Hunting season in October can be in the 90's or 10 below zero.

One of the movie sets I've worked on was for Josh and Sam , it didn't last very long before it was set to the discount bargain bin , but they wanted to shoot some travel scenes on Beartooth Pass mid Sept . as a dept head I strongly suggested that if at all possible that they should schedule it sooner than that as it could be snowing and darn cold by mid September !

I was told that they had checked with the national weather service and it would be fine ! Well they were all dressed as if they were in the artic sitting on the inset car shooting those scenes I broke down and put on a lite wool sweater and my goretex coat .

I've seen it dump close to 4' + of snow in nothing flat in Red Lodge , one year it snowed during the 4th of July rodeo !
