We had just won some money playing pool and the guy asked me to come play poker
s down the alley into his dumpy place, I proceeded to win until he began to cheat and act suspicios. the fellow I was with and i went to my car.the guy started shooting at us

we fled. I hit a telephone pole and had to continue fleeing on foot into hwy 80 or Davis street in oak Cliff,it was heavy traffic and I opened the back door and got into a slow moving 56 chevy sedan with 2 old folks

Get out of here ,there is a guy after us with a gun

The lady panicked. and crying hor help so I got out on the other side of the car and hoofed it

Later I got a laugh out of the whole episode,it reminded me of an old English movie, getting in one side ,leaving on the other to the astonishment of the driver

life was very eventful in those days,I would not reccommend the life to anyone
with a lick of sense,which I obviously didn't have

Haha that’s pretty funny. I had a similar situation where I was being chased and I ran around a turn and into the front door of the first house on my right, luckily the door was unlocked since it was broad day light, a 16yo looking kid was in the hallway and just raised his hands looking scared lol. I felt bad for him and remember saying “no, not that” as I rushed past and out the sliding glass door into the back yard and over the fence, slipping back to safety.

I tried to keep my interactions with ‘normal’ people to a minimum in those days : )

Oak Cliff must have been quite rough as I know a guy about Deans age who tells of...
Made some money playing pool went to leave and the losers chased them in their car firing away. Driver went into a dead end street in the park. Passenger yells no it's a dead end. Driver replies "I know I have a gun to shoot back".
