Fusion Table by Aramith

I am trying to find the cost of this table. I see it is being sold in UK for this: Price : ?999.00 (including VAT)

http://www.pooltablesonline.co.uk/proddetail.asp?prod=DPTFusionPT

How much is that in American dollars?

JAM

Roughly $2,000. Our dollar has really gone into the sh*thol*. The British pound is 1:2 of our money. The Euro is not too far from it either. Traveling to Europe nowadays feels like a royal trip. If things don't change we'll be the new kid on the block of the third world club. Thanks GWB!

Wow, that's a lot of cabbage for that table. Maybe for some, it would be worth it, though. For the serious-minded player, it may not fit the bill.

I could get used to having one of those in my downtown office. What a nice way to pass the time during the breaks! :D

Somehow, I can't see the Committee on Appropriations approving this expenditure. I can't even get my damn stimulus check which was supposed to be mailed out on June 6th and has now been delayed until June 27th.

If I lived in Europe, my stimulus check would almost cover the entire cost of the Fusion Table. :o

Competitors can use whatever keyboard they desire, and the competition is not based on QWERTY. QWERTY is the keyboard that I use, and I just can't switch to a DVORAK, though DVORAK seems to be what the fast typers use these days.

JAM

What competition are you referring to? I'm genuinely interested... I can't find anything with a quick google/wiki search for typing championships. I'm sure there is a professional term for it but I don't know what it is.

LOL! :D

The guy in second place is from Turkey, and the first place champion is Russian. I'm gonna get 'em this year and be number one. It's tough, though, because I'm on QWERTY and they're using a DVORAK keyboard. I'm still gonna get 'em this year and become the 2008 champ. USA, all the way! :p

To stay on topic of the thread, it does looks like a wife would like this table. It seems very easy to transform back into a piece of furniture for the home. :)

If it was here i would be hitting balls. what is qwerty typing contest.I type like 10 words a minute with 2 fingers:D :D

You need to initiate a stimulation to stimulate a response and get the stimulus :D

That is a beautiful table. At the price mentioned above it could do a lot for pool in this counry. Did anyone read about the available dimensions?

Seems to me they could hollow out the legs to allow for a few more balls with some sort of exit door.

It is curious that no one has come up with somethig that plays as well as slate but is much lighter. I would bet that some chemist could do it.

It could be done with current technologies. If I had to guess I'd say cost would be the main prohibitive factor in using any other material...

I read on their site that the pockets are some kind of stretchy nylon blend. When you remove the balls, it reverts back to it's orginal shape...

I'm definitely going to try and get one, I already emailed them yesterday for pricing and availability. :D

you know what's funny - there was a guy who came on here a while back asking about this, and a few people (me and maybe 1 or 2 others) had a good time brainstorming with him. Unfortunately, the traditionalists here ran him off because slate is the only thing that works for a pool table. Duh.

seriously though - I think it would be an uphill battle to market it, since the benchmark is slate. It certainly would reduce the price of shipping a table though!

I think this table may be more suited for the social shooters, like those who play once a week and/or play pool for recreation and fun.

I am still trying to locate a vendor here in the United States to see how much one is in American dollars. With the dollar conversion that Fanthom so kindly provided, it would cost about 2,000 here.

I think that is way too much. I paid a little over 2 dimes for my Brunswick Century 9-footer years ago, and that came with a lot of accessories.

I would much rather have this table in my basement than my Brunswick Century. We never use my table at home anymore, and this table would be great for poker, dinners with friends, et cetera. It's a multi-purpose table. Hey, if they could add ping-pong onto it, it would be a win-win for me.

I may be selling my Brunswick Century. It cost over 2,000 new, but unlike pool cues, I am sure this has depreciated. I'd be lucky to get 500 for it. I have been leaning on donating it to Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Navy Medical Hospital, or Forest Glen Army Medical Center for charity. I need the tax writeoffs, and the table is just sitting in my basement gathering dust. :p

I would happily replace it with this one, though. That way, me and my friends could still play a few games when they come over, after we eat and play poker. :D

It is a typing contest for people around the world. You cannot make more than three errors in the entire 5-to-6-minute test.

The test is tough as nails with some oddities to old-schoolers like me. For instance, I was trained to put two spaces after periods and question marks. In this test, there is ALWAYS only one space. I learned years later why we used to put two spaces after the period, and it had something to do with typesetters in print shops during the olden days. :p

Also, the test is riddled with symbols and difficult words, some of which don't come rolling off your fingers. Me, I can time "Washington" and have it sound like a machine gun when it rolls off my fingers, having typed it hundreds of thousands of times in my life, but the tests have unfamiliar words like "VATNAJOKULL" or "DEVERTEBRATED" and "ILLUMINOPOLY" which are typed on only the one hand on a QWERTY keyboard.

Here's a FREE typing test you can take to practice on: http://www.typingtest.com/

The Zebra story is a toughie. I got a 146 WPM just this morning after three tries. :o "Zebra" is a tough word to type for me over and over again. My fingers get dyslexia.

If you're serious, please keep me posted. I am interested as well. This will be my tax writeoff. I'll put that sucker right in my office, I tell you, and use it as a conference table. Actually, I could use a large table like that to put jobs together on. So it would definitely be useful, as well as a fun piece of furniture. :)

ETA: Deleted as it was a double post.

EVERY morning on AzBilliards at 7:00, EST, this forum is very slow for about 15 minutes. When you press the SEND button, it sometimes seems to not work. Then you press it again, and voila, you have created DOUBLE POSTS.

Today, in an era when everybody is trying to go green and live a sustainable lifestyle, using LESS resources and re-using what we already have, furniture makers are joining in the fray to produce ecofriendly furniture.

I saw on this year's Kentucky Derby that California racetracks, trying to be ecofriendly, are using a dirt for their tracks made from old paper, being green and sustainable.

Today, you can get countertops made out of compressed newspapers or tile which has been made out of leftover pieces of tile. The whole point is to save the earth's resources.

The building trend, according to the National Association of Home Builders, is not only to go green, but now there are communities being developed for the 50-plus homeowners, which hopefully will produce homes with little maintenance for people in the autumn of their life.

Furniture like this Fushion Table by Aramith is exactly what is coming to markets everywhere. People don't need 3,000-square-foot homes today, and it is best to use what space in your home that you have to its fullest extent.

Here's a piece of furniture I am trying to get for my foyer. It is a shoe cabinet. The school of thought is that when you enter a home, take off your shoes and place them in one of these drawers, it keeps the pollutants, toxins, and dirt in the foyer and they are not tracked throughout the house. The bottom drawer pulls out to be a bench, so that you can sit down and remove your shoes more easily. I love it, love it, love it.

The Fusion Table by Aramith is keeping up with the furniture makers and homeowners new trend, noting its multi-purpose use.

This shoe cabinet is a unique piece of furniture that was designed by house planner Jack Thomasson. Not only is it beautiful, it helped the home achieve its Gold LEED status. That's today's Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval in the year 2008.

Here's the shoe cabinet I want below. It's on back order right now. :p

Now today, in order to conserve gas, prevent pollution, and be more green, I am going to hop aboard the D.C. Metro to go downtown, a subway. I used to enjoy driving my car, paying $15 a day for parking, and having it there, so that I could come and go as I please. Public transportation is the way for me today. Plus, I get a little more exercise in from the walking.

I'm getting it. I have been looking at it over and over again. I actually do need a dining room table in my home. Whether I use this in my office or in the dining room, this is a good piece of furniture for me, the Fusion Table by Aramith. I wonder if I can get them to throw in that dotted cueball! :D

I will keep you posted...I haven't heard anything yet, we'll see by next week. I might have to call them :)

This table would be great for me as well, less of a hassel to move (hopefully), than a normal one. I'm in the military so I move a lot...

JAM, the measles ball is one of the options...they have 3 or 4 packages that you can get with the tables, one of which includes the Aramith Super Pro Cup set and the "6 red dots" cue ball.

Does the cabinet come with or have some kind of air circulating system from the inside like a fan? Reason I asked is because, shoes have to air dry between uses else they become perfect breeding grounds for bacteria and fungus. When shoes are removed, they are for the most part damp or wet from perspiration or could be soaked during raining/snowy days. If they are shoved in a dark, non-air circulating environment like a cabinet drawer, it's a fiesta invitation for fungus and bacteria. And come they do.
