Future of pool stats. Live. In real time.

oh interesting. I would love to have a panel on grading shots so there is uniformity across collecting. ive tried to connect with Pat. No success.

I looked at the TPA scoresheet and it defined easy shot as easier than a spot shot. I suppose a quick way to grade the difficulty of a shot would be distance CB to OB x distance OB to pocket x cut coefficient. The cut coefficient would be 1 for 3/4 ball or fuller, 2 for 1/2 ball, and 4 for 1/4 ball. That's not accounting for pocket angle which can be a factor.

After looking at your chart, somewhat closely here's some simplified info I' like.
Misses on makeable shots per match race to 11.
Misses on makeable safeties, race to 11.
Jump shots when I play a safety, how close to the obj. ball do I need to be, so they Won't Jump.
How often do they pocket the Jumper?

Which pockets get the most action would be more useful. If breaks are predictable then so are the layouts.

Knowing the odds on pockets helps players because they can plan for it.

Imagine if 70% of 9 balls were in the bottom right pocket during a match and a specific player made 60% of their 9 balls in that pocket.

Great work with the stats, some seem more useful than others.

That is already all tracked. BUT what is a makeable shot? That is very subjective and stats need to be collected more in order to say definitely that it is a low percentage shot because of XYZ

One other stat that I find, would be Very informative.
Some players cut balls to the left better than to the right.
This info would be very helpful in many situations, especially rolling out.

Makeable true, but distance effects shots of the same nature/depending on shot speed. 3' +4'5'6'7'8' have distance in play. That's why I've always said, this will eventually become (9 ball) a young mans game EYES. But yeah subjective is perspective, objective, and selective. Allot of ivs' :). And as always, less is more and more is????????? Available, as long as the pocket sizes are not under 4.25.

I can see more information being interesting but TPI was nice because it boiled everything down to one number. It was pretty rare for the TPA to not resemble the score.
A lot(most) of these stats are like baseball stats: nothing more than discussion topics. A player going into a match with all this data bouncing around his head has no chance of playing well. The game doesn't require ultra detailed stats. A few might be interested(think fantasy league geeks) but most players know what they need to work on without this stat-fest. Look, this has been do-able for years with modern processing. There's a reason it hasn't taken off.

I’m not going to knock the OP and his idea.

Reason being is if that attracts new people to pool, or incentivizes players to play better or gamblers to make more informed picks. How can it be bad?

If it’s not your cup of tea, ignore it.

If you find value in it, enjoy and support it.

That’s the way to look at it. Not knock it. Knocking is cancer to pool-nothing new. And the results are clear…….

That’s my “Let’s do what we can for pool answer”

My personal take away isn’t important. I think people who are newer to pool will be the target audience for these stats & data. Old school guys go by what we see/feel. Hard to replace experience with stats. So again let the new generation embrace this and expand pools audience.

PS any match with a purple 5 ball must be deleted as it’s not a valid match!
