future plans

I was fortunate enough to win four world titles but those difficult acchievements aren't recognized or listed by the BCA or any trade mags in their Almanac sections.
Jersey Red, Bugs, Ronnie Allen and I will probably never get inducted into the BCA HOF, yet they have guys with awfully questionable credentials in there. Maybe this terrific site will, if nothing else, educate pool lovers about some marvelous past champions.
I recently sent a proposal to the UPA, offering to consider sanctioning my future events. But I insisted that if I did, One Pocket, Bank Pool and Straight Pool had to receive the same rankings points as 9 Ball. They declined, which, really, I expected. But then I began to think about my proposal and my blood began to boil a bit. Are not One Pocket, Bank Pool and 14.1 championship pursuits, worthy of equal recognition?
I hope to change many things in the near future.I have fresh ideas and the will to make them work. I need to get by my Dec. tournaments and if everything goes as projected, you'll see huge change in pool, just from me. If my wife and I don't lose money in Dec. we plan for 05' :
One Pocket, 14.1, Bank Pool, Nine Ball, Grady's equal offense 10 Ball, some kind of big ring game, Poker, and these things on TV and an organization with: A A pension plan
B. Insurance benefits
C. A credit union
D. Our own HOF with no voting members being magazine editors
These are just a few of my ideas. Thanks in advance to Leonard Bludworth, Greg Sullivan, the Diamond table Co. and my friends in Foley,Alabama Richard and family.

Sounds like some pretty big plans, Grady. I hope you succeed. I have never played 14.1 but it sure has quite a marveous history; as for bankpool, love watching great bankers, and IMO OP is just 'the cat's meow. :D

Good luck with your event and I am going to try to make it.
I think the equal offense idea is a good one. It adds a golf type
aspect to the game and forces the players to shoot, which is what the fans want to see them do.
I am not sure if one pocket, 14.1, or banks will ever receive any kind of
major recognition. I think its like NASCAR. The winston cup series drivers
and the Busch drivers get recognition but theres at least 5+ other types
of racing and divisions that is NASCAR that receives little acclaim.
I dont see the UPA as the answer but I dont see many or any alternatives
for the players either. Maybe once this event is a success for you and
you start on the '05 event(s) then the players will be able to have another option.
Good Luck again.

Great ideas, though I'm not so sure about bank pool deserving to be on a par with 9-ball, straight pool and one pocket. Still, Grady, your multidisciplinary approach to competition sounds great, and I wish you good luck in pursuing it.

Also, adding to the list of great players overlooked by the BCA HOF, may I submit John Ervolino, a very special all-around talent?

Why yes, gremmie, quite nice in fact.

Cheerio, Pel
Yes, of course you're right about Johnny and he's just like us in that he was a gambler. He deserves to be in the HOF. What good is it if champions are inducted after they die?

Grady I think your ideas are great....but UPA is pursuing 9 ball as their primary field of play....that is no different from the WPBA playing only 9 ball....that doesn't mean the other games are not worthy of being recognized....just my two cents.......

9balllvr

Hay grady how about Haveing a non-pro event .With a hook up from the apa? You can talk to MS Fisher for some help ..
Jus my 2 cents.

Grady,

I hope you'll get a lot of sponsorship. Giving benefits will definitely help a lot of the pros. This would also give a good reputation for our sport. And who knows this might pave way for inclusion to the Olympics (just wishing).

This is definitely giving back to the sport that you love.

Goodluck!!!

Bank not worthy????

First off, congrats and good luck Grady. I have heard a lot of great things about you, and hope to meet you someday. As for banks not being in the same class as straight pool or one pocket, try to run 8 and out three racks in a row!!! Each table has a different speed, and has 8 different rails!! (uh,6 to be EXACT!) A hole is a hole, and that's why the pro's would rather drill a ball straight in anytime.

Enough rambling, best wishes Grady, Scott

Ain't a hell of a lot of foks beside those that specialize what can do it once.

I think, that event such as this would draw a lot of players that do not participate regulary simply because of lack of straight pool, one pocket & bank pool tournaments. That would be fantastic, were are you located Mr Grady, I'm getting ready :D

Thats great, not only on my birthday, but also just 500 miles away. I can handle that. I've checked that site, but there is no word about straight pool

Actually just 430mi, BAZARUS. Even more reason to be there. I plan on going. Anything, Grady does is the "Best". No one in the game has as much insight to what players and fans alike, want. No one has given more of himself to the game than, Grady. No one has given more percentage of income back to the game than, Grady. Grady belongs in the Hall Of Fame, not only for his playing ability but for what he has done for pool. Grady, my hat is off to you, sir.....................$Bill
