We need to start suppoting are young Player here in the USA. Also hotting are leages to start junior leages as Well as more tournaments for youth. People need to create pool programs in our school aswell. By promoting our kids we promote the future of pool.

Just curious. Are you going to take your child, or grandchild, into a smoke-filled pool room with a bunch of drunks sitting at the bar, and someone across the room yelling, "What the f**k kind of shot was that?!"?
I'm not.

Our schools need to work on teaching spelling and grammar before teaching pool.

We definitely need a little work on education first...

The only issue is once people are educated, they will realize there is no money in pool and that pursuing a "career" in pool will lead to a life of deprivation and starvation.

There must be some money in pool. Still lots of dedicated pros still playing.

Regarding tournament winnings.Say a top player makes $100,000 a year. He has to pay taxes and expenses. There will not be much left to live on.

Well there are millions of people working their butts off for a quarter of that.

When I'm too old to play or even worse, dead, I won't care if it's here or not first of all. And certainly I could care less if there's a 14 yr old that can wax me on the table...big deal. I play league pool and that's my world. I'm good with it. Prodigy? Okay, great. I'll see it on you tube and read plenty about how they're better than SVB on here....yada yada... youth this, youth that...whatever...let them catch Pokemon..I have to work for a living and play when I can.

Second of all, I think pool will continue to do fine at the league level. I don't see it going away! Like leagues or amateur pool or not, it's where pool lives today and thrives. Do I think or feel that pro's should have an organized league that pays them well for playing at an alien level of talent? Absolutely. It disgusts me that they have to scrape and grind for every dollar. How that problem gets fixed is a mystery and a topic that has been beaten to death. It sucks. But pool isn't dead or going to die.

It might not be alive in the smoky, back rooms of your bittersweet memories but the fact is most people who play now do not know that side of pool or even care. I prefer my craft beers and Diamond tables while enjoying a game that I love with people I like. All while the smoking has to be done OUTSIDE. That's pool today for the most part and it's pretty darn good in my opinion.

Totally understand you liking that shiny, copper penny you are holding. But, that is because you never got to hold that gold dollar coin that is only in memories of some anymore. Having held both, believe me, the gold coin was a LOT more fun!

When I started playing pool, everybody and their brother was trying to rob me as soon as I walked in the door.
That is a good trial by fire of whether or not you really want to be a pool player.
I don't see any reason to hold little Jimmys hand and show him how to draw his rock the proper way.

Kids kids kids . Enough enough Enough
The MasterChef JUNIOR or the kiddie talent shows is already overkill and beginning of the end of overemphasis on kids

About time world focuses on old folks like us
Master Senior, The Senior Voice, Survivor (Seniors Only)
Old is Gold

And please go back to 9 ft tables not kiddie 7ft tables

When I was growing up in NYC many schools had after school programs that were recreational in nature. They had ping pong and pool tables, nok-hockey, board games, etc.

Now I don't think any of that exists and after-school programs are almost totally focused on the obsession with test scores (I say this as a retired teacher who has seen that obsession up close and personal) and that exposure no longer occurs.
