Well, it is an alternative to that pesky problem of having to refelt. :) Craziest pool table that I have ever seen. Thanks to Ms. Tina Larsen for bringing this to my attention, it was quite a sight.

Here's the description.

The most advanced pool table in the world, the G-1 features a glass and resin playing structure and striking modern design.
The patented transparent playing surface replaces the traditional felt but allows the balls to roll at the same speed.
Bumpers, pockets and playing area are built to international standards, so you can play your game the same, with more style.
The minimalist modern frame features integrated ball return allowing pocketed balls to be seen through the transparent top.

I abso-freaking-lutely hate that table! It sucks, and I would rather cut one of my nads off, than have that thing in my home. That, that,.. monstrosity whatever it is, is not a pool table.

Yea I seen this table awhile back ,, Its cool looking ,different, but the price is insane.......

I saw the clip on Tina's page

That thing runs about $40000 too.

Added it to mine. My first thought was, "it's about $40,000". In Australian money, however that converts to our's, it's $43,900 + shipping

Not that i would ever spend 40k on a car, much less a pool table...but i would need to see a lot more than just a few straight in shots to see how the table really played. I hope no one has bought this table after seeing their "promo" video on youtube.

pool tables have evolved slowly and this is the next step forward imo, functioning or not.....

eliminating all cloth related instalation, maintenance and playability issues is huge

One good hard masse shot and you'd know the true meaning of follow through ;)

Seriously though, there's one thing I haven't seen in their video: can you draw or follow on the playing surface? And if you can, how long till the surface shows burn marks? I have nothing against modernity, and I find the table actually cool-looking, but if all you can do is push balls around leisurely, it's not worth a dime. That's if I wanted to blow 40K on a table. Gee...

Not exactly. There's a laminate/resin cover that has to be applied to the glass - with a squeegee.
Couldn't tell you how long that would last before needing to be replaced.
We discussed this some time ago in the mechanics section as one of the guys got a call
to fix one of these tables that had bubbles in the laminate.

Good to know Dartman. :) Call me a traditionalist, but I think I am going to stick with a regular ole pool table. Though I did see a link for the "Disappearing Pool Table" while watching this video. I don't know how it works (hydraulic system?) or how much it costs or even if the table could stay level, but functionally very neat idea. The pool table was just under the living room floor and you could bring it up any time. No wasted space.

The disappearing table was pretty cool but like you said, I don't think you ever
go wrong with a traditional table. I could also think of much better ways to spend $40K.

My friend had to set one of these tables up... they come mostly pre-assembled in a huge crate.

He said it cost around $29,000 and leveling it totally sucked. He said from what he was told about it only needing to be put together and leveled he quoted them a price of around 200 bucks, but he also told me he wouldn't do another table like that if they gave him 500 for it.

The top has some sort of laminate coating and the balls are made from some other goofy material.. if you pocket a ball with much force at all it'll pop right out of the pocket.

Total waste of money and barely even a functioning pool table.
