G2 Medium vs Kamui Black Soft

From my experience, Kamui Black Soft is still harder than G2 Hard. I have played with G2 S, M and H. I am currently using the kamui black soft clear.

according to pooldawgs durometer measure
g2 soft 74.8
kamui black soft 72.3
so the kamui black is ALITTLE softer
i used to play with kamui black softs for years
but got tired of the glazing
i use the g2 soft now for years and would never go back to kamui
they (g2 soft) are soft /grip the cue ball great/ hold chalk great/
after the first shaping for alittle mushrooming which i found was worse with kamui
they also hold shape great
best advice you will get is put one of each on 2 different shafts and try them both out
otherwise just buy the g2 and BE HAPPY...:)

I'm surprised at this result. Kamui black soft is in no way softer than a G2 soft.

In my experience the G2s are about up one hardness from Kamui.
So the G2 hard plays like Kamui medium etc.
I prefer Triangle over all of this stuff.
Talk about keeping shape and never glazing over.....

With all the fake and knock off tips on the market, and if you guys are not buying from certain dealers it is easier then shit to get a fake G2 tip ..........
My guess there is at least 3 different G2 tips on the market.

The real thing from G2
the ones that Joe B had made , that he says is the same china factory.
and the knock offs tips from china ..

I am concerned to the point I personally believe that the big billiard supply houses down to the guys who fixes cues from the trunk of the car are getting fake or knock off tips ....
Fake tips being sold and installed at big tournaments .. and being sold by the bulk ...

I think you guys are nuts for one saying one tip is harder then the other because you don't know for a fact every tip you each have tried were the real deal or not....

You guys should meet up and use one durometer and make sure you are using real G2 tips from G@ and real Kamui Tips from Kamui .
Then compare apples to apples ......

You don't know if the person who is the usa rep isn't sliding some fakes in here and there !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Or complete shipments ...

Or the factory its self hasn't started out sourcing or have another factory make there tips to their specs.

Or someone gets sick at the factory and someone else is then making the tip but slightly different .

Good assumption. I get my tips direct from the source and am distributing it... Second assumption, my Kamui tip is also from the one of only two authorized distributor in my country.

I just debunked your entire argument.

I am not trying to prove anyone wrong here. OP asked for reviews, and I gave mine.

Not everyone is buying their tips from the same source .
How can you have accurate world wide review when you don't know if everyone who is giving the review had genuine kamui or G2 tips ?

Just because you have the real tips, you cannot assume that everyone else giving their opinion also had genuine Kamui or G2 tips when both have been copied and marketed as the genuine article by the thousands and for a decade...
 
It might depend on at what stage of use you test the Kamui for hardness.

My experience with Kamui tips is that they increasing get harder with use .. they also have a major glazing problem.

I have never tried a G2 for the same reason I do not buy used Rolex watches -- too many fakes and crooks out there trying to pull a move on you.

My advice -- forget about all these over priced fake jobs from out of the country, after all you have no idea what you will be buying -- and your authorized dealer as well has no idea what he is selling.

Find a good manufacturer in the Country you live in and do business directly with him.

Here in the states we have Ultra Skin, a very good tip at a great price, a price so good no one would counterfeit it...

If you want to be rid of the glazing, hardening and general headaches common in layered tips I am with you !!

Try some milk duds or Ki Techs -- both made by some of our current members -- Now, at lest in my opinion, you are on your way to a great new relationship between you, your tip and your game.

I think you're spot on but the fake tip problem extends to most popular pricey layered tip brands.

The real g2s none better. Only opinion of course. Grab ball so fine & keep there shape.
 
Correction: Ultra Skin Tips are not made in Texas -- apparently they are made in China !!

Some time ago, at the introduction of these tips I read on Tom Hay's site that his tips were made in Texas, I remember this well, and I have a good memory.

After checking moments ago I discovered that no such text exists today on Tom's web page. Seems funny to me. If my product were made in the USA it would be all over my web page and product as well.

So, I can only recommend two US manufactures with complete confidence.

pooldawg8 for the best Milk dudes on the Planet and Renfro for his amazing Ki Tech tips .. both solid tips that will out perform any layered tip I have ever shot with.

Sorry for the mistake -- as well if Tom would like to come on here and set me straight it would be welcomed.

Kamui Black SS start out super soft and grabby but then harden up to be like many other tips. Used them for a couple of year. Personally, I now like the G2 Mediums.

On a side note, if you find someone who sells you a tip you like -- go back and buy a bunch because you never know if you'll get the same tip down the road.

Don't get the G2 medium if you prefer a soft tip. The medium hits like a brick! It is a very hard tip. Both are good tips but I prefer the Kamui Black soft over the G2 though. It just seems to grip the ball better.

Not my experience. IMO the G2 Medium is a true medium tip. YMMV.

I tried dozens of tips over the years and I've settled upon Kamui Clear tips in Black with soft hardness.

Previously I played Kamui Black medium and the tip tended to glaze too easily requiring scuffing and
Shooter08 suggested switching to the Clear series and going down in hardness. He's an authorized
Kamui dealer and so I tried the soft and super soft in Kamui Clear Black.......either one is great and I
decided to settle in on the Kamui Clear Black in soft hardness.

I've been using G2 hard and it's very good.
Perfect for what I do.
I don't like medium or soft tips.
Hit seems mushy and not crispy fresh. Just my take......
 
G2 vs Kamui

Figueroa and Radar spot on guys.

Hardness: Medium G2 plays like Kamui Soft.
Soft G2 is more like a SS Kamui.

Guys, there are plenty of secure G2 distributors in the USA and throught the world.
Just have to make sure you buy from them.

I buy G2's from the source, from the manufacturer, and I have done so ever since Yang Ching Shun gave me 2 samples back in 2009.He put me in touch with the manufacturer and I ONLY buy from him.
