Gabe wins the one pocket

That's a great picture of a very happy Gabe on the front page. He looks as if he's on top of the world, and having a little extra jingle in his pockets before the prestigious U.S. Open, less than 2 weeks away, is always a good thing.

One of the first times I ever saw Gabe in my travels was at a Derby City Classic a while back. Keith was sitting in the BCn booth with J.R. Calvert moderating a one-pocket match between Jose Parica and Shannon Daulton which was very slow-going from the start, lots of back-and-forth safety plays. He peered down in the peanut gallery and saw Gabe Owen sitting there and said, "There's young Gabe Owen, who's a mighty good player." Gabe was wearing ear phones listening to the commentating and looked up and smiled at Keith! :p

Congratulations to the 2004 U.S. Open Champion, Gabe Owen, for his great one-pocket win at the 2005 Carolinas Open! I look forward to seeing him compete in the Open. :)

Gabe ...

That's a real good picture of Gabe, seen that look before ... lol

I glad to see that Gabe didn't make a liar out of me when
I told everyone after the Open last year that you would be
seeing more of Gabe in the future. He is not a 1 trick pony,
he is the real deal. Gabe has a finesse about his game that
you have to see to appreciate.

Congrats to Gabe and his family on a great win.

What's special about Gabe's game is his creativity. Not just in One-hole, but in 9-ball, too. He is able to give himself extra opportunities to win by seeing a shot not everyone sees, and executing it.

Thanks Scott. I think he's on a mission, as we've seen the other players often get! What is there, 3 more big ones these next few weeks? We all know they will all be exciting as they all battle it out!
