Gamblers are Strange People

This is horse****. If they want the table so much then they can buy me out of it. If I rented the table it was for myself, not someone else. If the room wants to reserve tables for money games then they should not rent them to anyone else. If the room demanded that I change tables I would tell them to call the police. I also would never play there again. Let it go out of business.

Its up to the house man to reserve house tables for players. So in a way you would be in the right, and the house man would take the blame. Still, it wouldn't take long for you to gain a bad rep amongst others around the room.

I would give up a table for bigger money if I was convinced it was actually for bigger money and not a scam to get the table. But it would have to be big enough and involve players good enough that I would rather watch them play than practice myself. When I practice I'm not "just knocking balls around". And someone playing for a crappy $20 doesn't know a damned thing about the rails or cloth. They probably wouldn't even know what you're talking about.

I'd tell 'em that I'll give up the table if they let me hold onto the money posted for their match.

What's to stop somebody from scamming you out of your table (when the tables in the house are all taken), then just playing some cheap sets...so they didn't have to get on the waiting list?

Show me the $$$....then let me hold it!!!
