What confounds me is that there are several players rated 6 or 7 that always gamble with each other but why don't two 4s ever go at it? Or why don't the 4s match up against a 6 or 7 and play the 5-3 or 5-2 race?
When it comes to pool gambling in general I'm convinced that it's not the money that people are afraid of losing. They are afraid that they will leave feeling like they got hustled and that they will look like a sucker.
It's the money, for me.Luxury said:...

gpeezy said:How many of you league players gamble? In my area not many do. It seems to me to be the easiest way to match up. Sandbaggers would till up easier. I would enjoy league probably if I got to match up with the other team after we got beat.
supergreenman said:To me this is one of the lowest forms of class. Coming up to me after I just beat you and barking is like pretending that the loss you just incured didn't matter to you because you weren't gambling. Be a graceful loser.
I don't have a problem with gambling. Make matches on your own time.

I agree. I try and be respectful any time I try to match up. But I see where if my team was beat and I barked a little to play some it would look a bit assholish. I also like playing ahead set more that races if that says anything.supergreenman said:I guess timing is everything. Around here if you do that it's like saying you got lucky and does show a lack of class.
I have no problem with people coming up to me another time looking for a match.

That pride can be a *****, can't it? Good Post.Luxury said:I'm a big league gambler. I started the thread about wanting to gamble with other league players at the DCC.

Because I had to go to seven and they went to two. It's not, however, my style to publicly call them out. I would step to the side for an offer. I went undefeated the only year I played, though. It was kind of fun. It's just hard to commit to one night a week. I did try to give up the four and the break to one of our sevens (high as you can go in our area) and didn't like it. Hell, I was just trying to stir something up. For $10 bucks a set, I don't mind trying to outrun the nuts, if there's nothing else going on.MBTaylor said:I agree, calling someone out after they just beat you in league is pretty stupid.
Seems to me that if someone just beat you in league and you want to play them for money afterwards it would be a pretty good indicator that the person was sand bagging. If they couldn't beat you previously, what makes them think they can win when playing for money?
