gambling promotes pool see here.

because its a game of skill. and when you beat someone at a game of skill they take it more personally.

yet if they bet on a game or horse they can put the blame there.

Which came first....the chicken or the egg?

Does gambling promote pool, or, does pool promote gambling?

Either way is OK by me.

As far as gambling goes it can be an addictive and unhealthy habit for people. I've heard plenty of stories about people's lives being ruined by gambling and its very sad. But this is America damnit and I do what I want.

How do you relate gambling to america, you'll find references to gambling in the Bible.
Pretty much everything in life is risk and reward even a career. You take a job with hopes of where it will take you possibly passing up other things, in other words you take a gamble.

I've also heard of millions of lives ruined and they didn't gamble....maybe if they gambled 🤔

No one would care one thing about college football if not for gambling.
Not always...This long suffering Oregon State Beavers fan is absolutely giddy that they beat the University of Oregon Ducks in this year's Civil War game.

Ducks fan: "Terrible season. Only 9-3 with no national championship game."
Beavers fan: "Fantastic season! 9-3 and a bowl game invitation !"

Icing on the cake...the Beavers won that bowl game, beating the Florida Gators 30-3.

everyone gambles every day. some just dont like it when others gamble the way they dont.

some lives are ruined by gambling too much and badly. as well as from over drinking, smoking, drugs, fast driving. fighting, sun bathing, over eating, under eating, etc, etc,

if you do any of those things you dont have the right to condemn gambling for money and be fair. most of those you risk your health or life. but the other you just risk cash.

It’s promoting it because it’s a poor country with few money making opportunities. This doesn’t translate nearly as well to richer countries/regions.

Ha, ha......surely you jest. College football fans might be the most fanatical sports fans on the planet. Many teams draw 100,000 fans for each home game, and it's not because they are gamblers. They just love their team, and the college football atmosphere. And, they are nuts.

The gamblers stay home so they can watch all six teams they have bet on, at the same time. :ROFLMAO:

I don't know about that one of the attractions of gambling is the fact that there's an unknown involved. I used to have people work for me and they all used to go to the dog track or the horse track and bet their money. Sometimes they win a few thousand, usually after they paid their bills they probably end up blowing the rest.

But the truth is, they're not going to save up anything based on what I'm paying them. Something like gambling or the racetrack might be the only way one of those guys ever get their hands on a few thousand at one time.
It's easy to see the attraction of it.

I never really understood the attraction though of gambling when you have money, what's the goal? I've never played poker or any kind of gin rummy or anything like that, I've never bet on football or gone to the track other than to a company friends and hang out.

I always bet on pool though because it pretty much made it real, without something riding on the outcome it just didn't seem the same. I also enjoyed tournament play, in fact I would be more nervous playing in tournaments then betting money.

When you're gambling you can keep playing, but in a tournament it's pretty much always sudden death and you got to shake hands and be nice and congratulate your opponent. I'd rather rack them up and keep playing until one of us quit.

That’s exactly my point. An individual who struggles to make money will find gambling more attractive. That will of course be true in any country. But it scales better in poorer areas. That was the situation in the Philippines where Dennis Orcullo could make more as a pool player than as a fisherman. I couldn’t possibly make more money as a pool player than what I do now, not unless I was a top 5 player.
