Its been a while since anyone had a gambling stories thread so here we go.
they dont have to be big money so post away with some good ones. I like to read about them all myself.
Heres one --
It was in the early 90s and I was in Dothan AL playing a guy named Stoney
Stone. We were playing $50/ game one pocket and two guys kept watching us from the bar.
I went to get a pepsi and the guy says "you guys gambling?"
yes I replied that we were playing for 50 a game. He asked whether
we are local or what and I say that we are and that we are friends. He says he and his buddy are from out of town.
We play a couple more games and the guys watch us paying off. we both ahve good rolls on us and it catches their eye.
The guy I spoke with comes over and asks if we want to play partners against he and his buddy for the same 50 a game per man.
I ask Stoney and he says sure. The guy gives us the break and when he is done racking he says..... call all your shots and kisses and clean 8s.
This is when I realize that he thinks we had been playing eight ball and thinks
we can not play at all. We chuckle and then start.
We won the first game and he says lets play a first to 4 for $200 a man.
Now I think maybe we are getting hustled but the guy still does not know how we play and Stoney was a good player with me right behind him.
We say okay and start it off. We were playing scotch and after the next two games in which we won he says I think you guys are playing better now then
when we were watching you before. The room owner had drifted over and taken interest and got up chuckling. He now realizes that the guys thought we had been playing 8 ball.
We won and they left and me and Stoney went back to our game.
The guys watched us playing one pocket and thought they had some young kids with money that couldnt play.
Stoney was racking and stopped and looked at me and the owner and
said " Did that really just happen?" LOL
then the rotten SOB beat me for $150 of the $250 we had just won. LOL
I can still picture that guy saying that we were playing better now than before. He was dumbfounded.
