Garczar's health update...................

Well, I've been putting off the colonoscopy but after reading this I think I'll get in and get it done.

Fuck cancer. I've lost too many friends to it in one form of another. Glad you won your battle, Garczar! Did you have any symptoms or was it found through a regular screening?

Definitely have a colonoscopy… just got mine.
At age 40 I had yearly exams and caught the prostate cancer(at age 60) other wise no symptoms.
Act now. It’s the right thing to do.

Regular check-up on the prostate. A lump showed up under my right arm was the tell-tale of the lymphoma. I need to get my colonoscopy too, been 5yrs. My last one was fine.
 
Congratulations from one cancer survivor to another keep up the good fight !

There's more than 3,500 different types of cancer so if your Dr tells you it's time for this or that test get it done ! Early detection is paramount to a better rate of survival , sadly that wasn't the case for my parents but they both fought a good fight and I'm even more stubborn than they were combined ha ha !

They have pills to take now for your clean out instead of that terrible liquid you used to have to drink. A lot better
 
I never thought I was invincible and maybe just lucky with rarely ever getting sick or as much as getting a headache. Late last fall I couldn't hold back when I got the urge to pee and just attributed it to old age. Just before Christmas I was noticing less of a stream and volume and started getting abdominal pain and ended up going to the hospital. They did an ultrasound and found the bladder was full and inserted a catheter and it drained the bladder. After that all the testing and treatment has begun. It's a good thing that the Healthcare here in Nova Scotia covers the medication ($3K/month) plus the injection and the specialists have moved me up as a priority patient. They have been great to us and send emails and phone us to see how I'm doing.

Good going, and yes, early detection is essential.

I had an elevated PSA (3.6) for the first time in my life in late 2021 (tested yearly for most of my adult life). They did a 12 core sample biopsy with 10 cores benign. One core was Stage 1 with a Gleason Score of 6, the one next to it was Stage 2 with a Gleason Score of 7.

Urologist and Primary Care Physician both thought we should do something other than "active monitoring". I met with a Radiation doctor and a Robotic Surgeon. Both agreed either approach should take care of the situation, but the surgeon said he very rarely operated on someone in the early stages as presented in my biopsy.

So, I went with 45 days of radiation, and I'm fine and cancer-free now (as far as I know). PSA is below 1.0 now.

On a similar note, check your nuts too. For some reason I decided to do a testicular exam last weekend and damned if I didn't find a lump on my left nut. I had my wife confirm my findings. I am not too concerned and getting it checked out but thought I'd mention this as a PSA.
I keep telling the Mrs. she should be checking them daily but that ain't happened. 😉😉
