GCIII ball return noise question

Well this is a longshot and probably not an issue for most if anyone else :)

I really want to keep the ball returns on my GCIII but when the balls fall ONLY FROM the pockets nearest the ball basket there is a little short track on the rail the balls fall off of and onto the track that sends them into the ball basket.

When the balls fall off this little short track onto the other track it makes quite a racket. Now this isn't the sound made when they fall into the basket. I've put carpet in there and it is very quiet.

Its all the metal rail track harmonics. The table is in my basement and there is a baby sleeping right over the table.

I've sound proofed the ceiling and all that, but I'd love to muffle that bell sounding annoying noise as the balls fall.

I've been playing with stuffing around the tracks with foam and it really isn't very affective.

I figure before I continue to try and reinvent the wheel, perhaps someone may have had a need to resolve an issue like this before. As I mentioned, I'd really like to keep the ball returns rather than install drop pockets.

If anyone has had success with this issue I'd appreciate your thoughts.

thanks.

on your ball return tracks is all of the rubber coating still attached to the metal ? Due to the design of the tracks I really cant think of a way to quiet them anymore then they are.

Yes, the rubber is still there. One member PMed me and suggested the GC1 or 2 ball returns as he said they are heavier. I'm gonna keep experimenting. I just figured perhaps someone licked this already and I'd be able to save some trial and error. :) Thanks for the reply! :)

As well as what that other guy said make sure your hangers are screwed tight, sometimes they are not. Maybe some rubber washers on top where they screw in. fyi John
