New York Times journalist Harry Hurt III wrote an article about Tony Robles, and it goes like this: NYT Article about Tony Robles

Excerpt: Though still on my feet, I faced a similar predicament: I was embroiled in a nine-ball match against Tony Robles, a k a "The Silent Assassin," the best professional billiards player in New York. A 42-year-old teetotaler with a trim goatee and piercing brown eyes, Tony has won 30 major tournaments. I, on the other hand, am a 57-year-old amateur billiards buff who once danced ballet and plays almost exclusively with close friends under the influence of adult beverages...

...I had sought out Tony Robles because I was looking for an edge against my pool-playing buddies back on eastern Long Island, all of whom have decades more experience than I do. Tony's lesson rates are just $75 an hour, and he doles out tips with an unfeigned modesty and sense of wonder.

The New York Times is one of the few American print media that has a long history of billiards articles. Bravo to NYT for this recent great read about Tony Robles and billiards! :)

Thanks Jam, I love seeing articles outside of what we consider mainstream.
