Dear Gentle Readers,
A few pals alerted me to the fact that my heartthrob, Efren, was competing on POV’s live stream. Sure enough, I had the opportunity to watch two of the games on Sunday.
(Was that a new type of Magic Rack? And why was it so tough to identify the object balls? Still a great stream, though.)
Efren was indeed in that Mezz tourney, along with a couple of other names I recognized - - Francisco and Oscar.
One name that was new to me was that of a booth commentator, Brooke.
(Her savvy observations reminded me of another girl in, I believe, a Steinway booth. That particular NYC girl was affianced to Rodney, if I recall correctly. And she too was terrific on the mic.)
Anyway, Brooke was delightful! She has a calm, melodious voice, nowhere near the boundary of chirpy. And, she was articulate. Brooke strung together coherent sentences, paragraphs, statements.
She provided a savvy analysis of the action and, at the same time, put it in perspective. She explained the players, the game, the room, the overview.
Brooke, I think I have this right, also played in the tourney. I believe she actually competed against Efren earlier in the proceedings.
Point?
As grand as some of the booth boys are, it was refreshing and … um, refreshing, to hear another girl’s perspective. Commenting on what is, basically, a boy’s game.
Sisterhood is my life,
Sunny
P. S. ‘Girls In The Booth’ is set to the tune of that Internet meme, ‘Pants On The Ground.’
P. P. S. No, you louts, there is no implied connection between girls and lowered garments. No dishabille here. Gomers!
