Give my 5 Kieth McCreedy's and you got a MC winner

As to how good he was / is couple things - I took the OP in the context of when Keith was in his prime. As to the comments about his " legend " Yada Yada yada, there are still plenty of people around, many on AZ for that matter, that were around and first hand watched ( and bet and won ) him crush the all the best players in the world at that time. Plenty of first hand knowledge as to back up the " legend " . As to now, I have no idea how Pathetic you play sir, but I am confident for the right amount of cheez you could coax him out of retirement so that in fact you could find out for yourself first hand and then decide. As to what's " tolerated ", until a certain something is done ( which it has not been ) it seems to absolutely be " tolerated " , and for the record as I've stated in other threads I think that whole discussion is REALLY stupid AND the only folks that feel that way are tighta$$ blowhards ( not saying that's you because I have no idea where you stand ) and those that are just not good enough to get there and cry and look for excuses.

Oh yeah, while you may not have heard of those tournaments, you have in fact heard of Larry Hubbard and Earl Strickland I'd assume???

Excuses? Lol. There's a thousand Russian athletics looking for'excuses' today. Sadly for them, the rest of the world call them what they are; cheats.

And lol at the playing Keith bit, for multiple reasons. For the record i have nothing against him at all. I do have things against fans living in cloud cuckoo-land, however.

to the first part tho, yes the russians are cheats (nothing new there), but those cheats got beaten from time to time, do you think clean? just look at the wada hack few month ago, magically all US athletes are heavy sick looking the meds they are allowed to take with a docs permission..... or why never a US athlete got caught at olympics? and no, this is no USA bashing, i hardly doubt its different in GB, germany or france (just take any country you wish lol)!

We've had that discussion already....so now it's gone from the hottest player on American soil to the whole planet?....LOL

To different things hottest and best might are not the same thing , and for your info Keith in top gear needed no spot from anyone , Allan certainly more consistent by a long ways , but his top gear was way behind Keith's top gear in rotation
Keith was yesterday's Shaw his fire power was off the hook , we all know Keith's down fall but we all know also it was not a lack of talent , when you look up under achiever his name should be right beside it
As for Shaw his gear today is second to none , yes in a gaf race Shane's consistently wins out but Shane's fire power is well behind Shaw's

OK, seeing how you keep claiming Keith was so unbeatable in his day, and beat all the "pros" at that time....throw some names out there as to what "WORLD CHAMPION PRO'S" he beat the cash out of....NOT in tournament play?

I don't know Keith's life history but since your so well informed why do you tell us who beat him ,,
I also find it amusing in a thread of something that's never possible you pick to spew your gibberish but I'm not surprised by it
Stick to pool tables where your opinion is some what respected

Why....because I don't buy into your BS? Shouldn't be hard to name some world class Pros he beat, since he beat them ALL according to you, so man up and name a few WORLD class Pros that lost their cash to Keith! You make it sound like Keith was a amature who could beat the Pro's when he was playing in top gear! Any by the way, not only have I worked on pool tables for the last 33 years, I've been playing pool since 1968....so, I just happen to know a little about this game too:rolleyes:

I think JAM needs to finally get that Keith book done and out. So many of his great days were not tournaments but gambling stories. Come on JAM.

i had the pleasure of seeing K beat Louie Roberts in 75/77 (when Louie could REALLY play) a couple of times for thousands on ea occasion. IIRC they played "ahead" matches and K just overpowered him, it cost me $$$ the first time but i more than made up for it the second. i also saw him beat Mike Carillo (sp), also in 75/76+_, who was a top player out of FL. Mike's untimely death came at a very young age.

i don't recall him booking any losers, however, i did hear (on AZB) that Buddy beat him, i don't know when.

Although i respect RKC's opinion i'd bet on K vs Hoppie, esp playing 2 shot foul,,,it's a shame we'll never know, unless they played and someone will share.

When I first met Allen Hopkins, it was in 2002 in Virginia during the U.S. Open 9-Ball Championship. Everybody was gathered at Q-Masters the night before the tournament. Keith was barking at the crowd, looking to gamble with anyone. Allen walks in and sees Keith trying to get a game. Allen then pulled out a wad of cash and told Keith to get in action, that he was backing Keith. Keith and Allen are longtime good friends.

Allen's prime came earlier than Keith's prime. I don't like to compare players unless they were able to play each other during their prime, not to mention that the game itself was different. Keith said when they changed the rules of two-foul/push-out, that his game went down 2 balls. Allen and Keith also played on slow cloth, which required a different kind of stroke. The strategy in two-shot/push-out was different than the rotation games today. Some believe there's more luck in rotation games today than there was in two-shot/push-out.

One of the best finals I have ever witnessed was Allen Hopkins versus Ginky at the Ocean State Championship on the Joss Tour, and this was about 10 years ago. Both players weren't hitting 'em every day, but both were strong players. It was a back-and-forth with no errors. It was neck and neck to the finish line, with Ginky coming out on top. The caliber of play was phenomenal. Again, nobody made any mistakes. I've never seen that before in a finals. It came down to who made balls on the break that determined the winner.

As far as tournament play, Keith's defeated quite a few name-brand players in tournaments, but that doesn't mean anything in a short race to a designated number. When it comes to two good players, it is usually a coin toss as to who comes out ahead or a "pick 'em," as they say. Some players he has defeated in tournament play, ones I can remember at the time of this writing, are Earl Strickland, Francisco Bustamante, Alex Pagulayan, Mike Sigel, Niels Feijen, Ronnie Alcano, Spanish Mike, Mika Immonen, Shane Van Boening, Allen Hopkins, Buddy Hall, Danny Hewett, Larry Hubbart, and Efren Reyes, just to name a few.

For the cash, the list is too lengthy to name here.

There's a wee bit of politics going on in AzBilliards Land with this Mosconi Cup that is sprinkled in the threads, if you read between the lines. This thread was supposed to be a fun thread, nothing serious, but it ends up in a Keith bashing, all for the sole purpose to cause hurt and/or anger with me by dragging Keith's name in the mud. In the end, I hope that Team USA can produce a winning team, but win or lose, I will root for the home team.

A few Allen photos and some with Keith. Again, the two of them are very good friends and don't need to prove anything to anyone as far as who's the best. They both were the best in their prime.

Serious question: who is a.) bashing Keith, or b.) dragging his name through the mud.

If the comments in this thread anger you, you have anger issues IMO.

For the record, from what I've seen, I don't think Keith's level of play would even make the American team, let alone challenge the Euros. A standard level professional for his time, no more or no less once you take away the legend. And there's no shame in that: it is an absolute world away from anything I'll ever be able to do on a pool table.

See? No bashing. Just honest opinions.

For the record, how many times have you seen Keith play in his prime? Please share.

You don't even know the man, never have met him. If so, post up your name on this forum so we can know who you are.

Yeah, that's what I thought.

One more thing, over the years, you have continued to float in and out of threads making flippant and sarcastic remarks to others, not just me. You don't anger me; you disgust me. It is people like you that have made this forum a ghost town in the last year. Nobody wants to put up with the crap. I have received numerous PMs from many AzB-ers who have shared the same thought as I have about trolls like yourself.

No bashing. Just honest opinions by valuable members that used to frequent this place.

You are correct Jam. And most of the "bashing" are from our English friends, you know, that once lived in a strong and proud Empire, that stretched across the globe, and played such a big part in international politics but has since been reduced to complete irrelevance, they need to prop up a 100 year old "Queen" as some tourist attraction. It's kind of sad, really. Thus, if Mosconi Cup props them up at the end of the year, while they celebrate by drinking warm beer, let them have it, they need it more than us ;)

Yeah, that's what I thought.

So you're not willing to address any of my points - including the questions about who was bashing Keith? Okay, cool. I just thought it may be fun to have some real discussion, but I suppose you disagree.

Yawn. You continually jump in and out of threads calling people trolls and refusing to address or discuss their points. It's a discussion forum, not somewhere for you to just post pictures and expect praise purely because of who your partner is.

lol, fair enough... however, DONALD TRUMP is your president elect. Glass houses and that, yeah?

We also know a thing or two about cueing a ball ;).

I like the way you think.

JAM, disgusted by sarcastic, flippant remarks... but only when it suits her.

OK, at least you have a sense of humor ;) And yes, you damn snooker players know how to cue a ball, no argument there. I played snooker once, once !!

AS far as Trump goes.... when they run a candidate as bad, as corrupt and unlikeable as Hillary, things are not going to end well. We can't keep doing the same thing over and over with career politicians, who are now all millionaires, and expect different results. Trump. love him or hate him, things are going to change :grin-square:
