Never used a glove & probably never will. I don't have sweaty hands so that's not a problem for me. The only thing I can see that might make me try one is one of my cats tearing chunks out of my bridge hand before I play. I think a glove may be a tad smoother than bandaids!

I used to make fun of people who used gloves but then karma got me. I developed a bad case of exima and my bridge hand started breaking out with little blisters every time I play. Now I have to wear a glove. I've always had trouble with sweaty hands and wish I'd tried it sooner. I think it's made my game more consistent.

I prefer to use a wet shammy (chamois), but the room owners don't like it. http://www.shammy.net/index.html

I voted: American Idol

lol... funny that you mention, because I own a shammy (a.k.a. Sammy, Chamois [or how they say it in Spanish slang: cha-MOYS], the "wet one") for springboard diving.

About the question:

I use a glove when it's humid. When it's dry, I don't.

It's like the saying: No glove... no love. :p <---- quite the corny quote.

i switched to wearing a glove over a year ago, because, I lost a match when my cue shaft, stuck on my sweaty hands. I've always had problems with having sweaty hands. And no amount of Easy slide would help for long. I normally had to dry/wash my hands atleast once and hour and apply easy slide, like i was warming up for the un-even bars lol.

Well once I switched to the glove, I got the usual laughes and Michael Jackson comments, but those all stopped once, i was kicking thier ass.

I have a couple of gloves in my case, to rotate them around, for when I'm playing several days in a row of long sessions.

Now I can play with or without a glove. If I am just going out to a club to hustle for some drinks n stuff, then i wont wear one.

Wearing a glove is a matter of pragmatism. I don't need it for any reason so it's not pragmatic.

I've never worn a batting glove, or a golf glove....why the heck would I need a glove inside? The other two had nothing to do with how it "looks", so why would not wearing one shooting pool? I find it hard to believe that my hands would ever sweat enough to effect play in any of the above cases. I'm guessing the insecure one is the original poster, since he needed to try to call non-glove wearers such!!! :)

If it makes yo feel any better though....I did wear a fielders glove in baseball. I know, call me a wuss, but 3rd base isn't called the HOT CORNER for nothing! :)

Ottawa summers are very humid so I keep a glove with me. Most of the time I don't wear one though, but if the atmosphere is humid, I rather not suffer through it.

a glove will give you the smoooooothest cueing action possible. clean hands, talc, ky kelly, you name it - nothing is as smooth as a glove. which is why i love mine.

Sir what you do in your private time should just stay that... private!

Uh yeah, you have no problems with insecurity whatsoever....

I hope English is your 2nd language, because if it's your first, I want a refund on my tax dollars.

Olauzon, if you're still out there and reading this, I think your AZ account has been hacked by a 4-year old. You might want to change your password....

almost unpolite of a selfdescribed educated man as yourself to compare my sincere efforts of being mature as the likes of a 4 yr old. i better improve upon myself and part solely from smartassness (is that a word, sir?), exaggeration and beer. i wholeheartedly ask for your forgiveness.

sincerely,
