do any of you guys wear a glove when you play? i see Jeanette wearing one every now and then, and Earl at times too.

thought it might come in handy when shooting with the Cuetec that i have. it has the ???????? shaft that seems to always want to "stick", cant think of the name of it now.

I might use one in our humid, hot summers, but they look so queer (sorry, Earl). On Jeanette, it looks kinda sexy...but what doesn't?

My Cuetec won't stick if I clean it, and my hands, first---even in humid weather, but I don't sweat too much and use an open bridge quite often.

I've thought about inventing finger socks, but haven't done that, yet...go for it.

they have both wore gloves ALL THE TIME i've seen them...........

i personally wear a glove when the humidity is high and the shaft starts sticking a little to my fingers. i carry talc powder, but it gets old putting a dab on my finger after every 3 or 4 shots.

thanks

i have a glove but i rarely use it......i feel self-conscious (sp?) with it on.....and it distracts me....seems like i end up notcing i got a glove on my hand rather than looking at the shot. I like how it feels though. I just keep my shafts extra slick

DCP,
I've used one for 2 years. I play and practice for such long periods of time that I just love it. I always have the same feel no matter whether the shaft is a little dirty or not. It saves me the constant tinkering with the shaft, and powdering the hands. No messy powder all over the table. It just gives me more time for practicing without fussing with the shaft/powder/etc. I will have to agree with the Chef that it looks a little gay - but I'm married and don't really care what people think.

I will say that one of my professional friends uses one, and the other professional friend does not (and in fact is trying to talk me out of using one, because he believes that certain shots - like the mega-draw and jacked-up draw are harder to deliver with a glove). I'm still using it though (I'm just lazy when it comes to cue and table maintenance), I've seen Mike Davis, John Schmidt, and Earl using them at DCC and they play pretty sporty.

I have the reverse problem. HELP!

My hands and skin are too dry. I even use a "Tacky Cloth" on my break stick to get a firm grip.

I used to have a "Rubber Butt Sleve" that was great but I can't find them anymore. It was just simply a thin rubber tube piece that came in many colors and it rolled up on the butt & then you just un-rolled it to use as a gripping area on the cue.

ANYONE KNOW OF THESE OR WHERE TO FIND THEM ???

You don't waste any time do you?Just glad to be able to help.

By the way,I use a glove all the time.No need getting talc on the table that will work it's way though the cloth, slowing down the table.I've heard it also shortens the life of the cloth, don't know that that's factual.

Hopefully finger socks would be a joke, why done you just cut the fingers out of a mitten overall finger "socks" idea. i hope it is a joke.

No Glove for me, let Michael Jackson wear just one glove.... :)

I have used a glove for many years. I have very sweaty hands and my stroke felt so much relaxed when wearing a glove. I was able to deliver the cue much more consistently. I had tried talc, but it just made things worse after a while, the shaft got even stickier. Vanity hasn't struck me yet and I don't think glove looks ugly. Except when the glove is old and full of holes and smells funny :)

Though, when I play snooker, I can't wear a glove. The shaft is so much thinner and I can't feel it anymore with a glove.

I prefer bareback over a glove :)

I hate those gloves. I just think they look odd. *Real* pool players never (I know, some do) wear them, just the people who get into every "this will improve my game" gimmick around.

Around half the people, in my favorite pool hall, wear them but are all league players, as far as I can tell. I can't think of one serious player, locally, who wears one...

Clean hands and clean shaft are all that matters. But if the glove works for you, don't change a thing...

I think the glove question might have something to do with local players and how they feel about it. If there is one really good player with a glove, people tend to accept the glove more as a mandatory device for some, not a gimmick. Here in Finland it's not common to have a glove, but at least no one has ever stated that I look ridiculous with the glove. At least after I have bulldozed over them on a couple of sets :)

Yeah, I have always kept my shafts very clean, but changing into a glove was perhaps the most important thing that improved my matchplay in tournaments. I mean, my hands really sweat a lot. I can't go to the bathroom to wipe my shaft between every rack...

Just my $.02

For me the glove made a difference but i thought i did look kind of funny with it on, so i sucked it up, and i shoot with no glove now.

Puzzling subject, nearly all three cushion players wear a glove, but extremely few pool players do. One that does is many time 200 ball runner Danny Barouty of Queens NY, for whom I have always had enormous respect.

I use to play in this dive where in the summer time it was a sauna(sp) no AC and always wore a glove. Now I play in a very nice pool hall that has AC and haven't worn one since. I see a few players who do where gloves but not many. I only remember one guy giving me a hard time about it and he was drunk, guy turned out to a very nice when he was sober. Personally to each their own.

I've seen a guy wear one on each hand in case he had to shoot a shot lefty...lol.

We have a Three Cushion Player who wear a Cotton Work Glove on Each Hand. Why I do not know, and I think they would be slippery?
