Is contact cement the only choice?

Nope. There are MANY choices out there. I've seen wood glue, super glue, and even staples. Contact cement seems to be the BEST choice though.

Any of you gents ever tried hot melt glue? I've never tried it myself but am curious as to whether or not it would work well enough?

I've used hot glue in a lot of applications.... I can't see it holding.up in this one.
