Just don't use the super glue that turns purple. I haven't had any luck getting it to set.

Regarding glues staining your ferrules !!!

I wipe off the excess glue with a paper towel right after seating and locking down the tip.... I have been doing this routine for over 17yrs and have NEVER had a superglue gel stain or discolor any ferrule.

Yes there is a very small amount left on the surface but it has never been enough to cause a problem, and is easily sanded off when you address the tip !

I'm sorry to hear some of you have had that problem in the past... but I can assure you loc-tite superglue gel will NOT harm any type of ferrule and holds fantastic with leather tips !

Sincerely, Eddie Wheat

I've always used Super Glue for wood and leather and over many yrs, never had a tip fall off.

As far as holding the tip down goes ...

Get an elastic band, cut it with a scissors to make it one straight band, place your tip on, run the band over the top of the tip/shaft and stretch it some.

Next wrap it up around the shaft about 3 inches down the shaft and then, roll it up on itself so it holds without you holding it.

This provide complete even pressure, and allows you to freely wipe the excess glue off.
