Glue method on cushion cloth?

I've been following the past few years the cloth glue method that Glen developed. My question is why is this not used on the cushion cloth and staples still are?

Is there not enough room for the glue to hold?

Do on the fly adjustments need to be made while the cloth is being secured that the glue method would make difficult?

Something else?

I'm just curious as it obviously works great on the slate and if it worked on the rails it would eliminate the staple damage to the wood.

I'm not a mechanic, just a player...

I would say there are a couple reasons. One, the wood rail would soak up more of the glue than the slate does and would react differently. Also, after a couple times, you would end up with glue build up , which could change the rail height. It would also be tougher to work with the glue around the corners, so you would still need to staple the ends of the rails, causeing the same wear in the areas that take it the most. Also, that glue is pretty tough stuff. I can see some dry/less dense woods splintering when you pull the cloth off the glued rail, causeing more damage than staple would have.

Have wondered the same thing. Good answers. When gluing BB rails you still staple the ends.
