Glueing Butt Sleeves

Hello,

This is a cue buliding question. What glue's work best for gluing on 3 to 4 inch butt sleeves? I have been using 3M slow cure and it seems to work real well but I was wondering if poly glue, wood glue or expanding glue would work better considering they cost much less. Any advice would be great appreciated. Thank you.

Correction:

The glue I have been using is System Three T-88.

Many good glues out there. West and devcon are definatly 2 of those. I use the T-88, and have yet to have a part come loose with it, but It is a fairly thick epoxy, so may depend on application with some people. It's possible that it may show slight glue lines ocasionally If you get it too thick on the faces, but If using it with black borders does'nt seem to be an issue.

Thank you for your replies. I have used all three glues but stuck with the T-88 because I figured it would make the strongest bond. I was just curious if wood glue or poly glue would work because it is so much easier and less costly to use.

Let's say you had to spend $100 for a 2 part epoxy & you put together 10 $300 Qs. That's $3000 from a $100 glue. It's worth every penny...JER

Duh, that would be great if that's all a cue was made of was glue.

Check out System 3 web site for glue info. System Three's subsiduary Industrial Formulators also has excellent web site and info. Structrrual epoxy grades such as T-88 are best because they are most forgiving in fit up and have best long term structural characteristics. Three other plus features of epoxy are no water or high clamping pressures which stress and distort cue and 100 per cent solids to maintain stability.

Always dry fit parts before mixing glue so you finish glue up within working time.
Epoxy can cause industrial sensitization wear gloves and barrier cream.
