Go Filipinos -- Brightest Stars at the 2007 WPC

Busta knocked him out last night.

In all fairness to Alex Pagulayan, it wasn't that he played poorly. It was the fact that Bustie dominated the table play. Alex was in his chair, more than he was at the table.

This year, Francisco is on fire, better than I have ever seen him!

I'm going with Alex Pagulayan on this one.

You better pick another coz he's a goner :) I'll pick Gomez since I jinxed Django so many times in the past LOL

Did you watch the Gomez match this morning? I watched both, Busta and Alex and Gomez And Neils. Looks to me like FB will have his hands full if he and RG both make the final. I'm pulling for FB but I think RG is playing near perfect pool.

My Bustie will kick Gomez's hind parts! :D

;) I would like django to win too because I think this year is his best and last chance before the young guns take over. However, he should not be too over confident because with this winner breaks format, anybody can win the game. Have you seen superman's match against Neil Feijen, Jam? He made a believer out of me. He is the complete package. He can break, make excellent safeties, kick, jump and he makes everything look so easy. In his first 3 matches, he has limited his opponents to just 3, better than django's record. And the 3 he beat were no pushovers. Alex Lely 10 to 1, Fong Pang Chao 10 to 2 and now Neils for the 2nd time (1 in the eliminations) 11 to 0. He hardly broke a sweat and showed no sign of nerves at all. He was just having fun.

Good luck to Django and the other remaining players. Remember, the LIVE broadcast will start at 9:30 pm tonight, Friday and not 2:30 am like the previous games. Break between the 2 sessions is just 30 minutes or less. I do not want you to miss Busta's match.

Those are all great name, with the exception of CD and SVB, it is kind of like living in the past.
To use an anology of sorts it is like "betting on the Dolphins to take it all and not realizing that it isn't 1972 anynmore".

I see, so you are willing to send the young guns rather than these old timers. that's ok for an argument and I'll give you a benefit of a doubt for it. in anycase, I just don't want any whining when the next young batch of american pool players get beaten next year's WPC and say it's because we didn't send our top caliber players.

speaking of Dolphins, why is JAM still betting on Django ? :D :D :D

Is that 9:30 eastern time tonight? Thanks Leonard

Yes it is. Tune in to channel 2146 or 6003 SOPCAST. 2146 is much clearer and does not buffer or lag at all (at least for now). However, sometimes they interrupt the broadcast with some sports center stuff. They evertually return to the games after this.

I just learned they will be playing both the quarterfinals and semifinals matches tonight. Broadcast will start at 9:30 pm, Friday to 1 am for the 1st session. A 30 minute break follows then at 1:30 am to 5 am the LAST 4 or semifinal matches will start.

Here is the order of the matches:

I am so impressed with this year's caliber of play by the Filipino players. There are a few young guns who have no fear and can perform like machines.

I am not a fan of this soft break, but in this format, whoever's got the break down, they must back it up with excellent shot-making skills, and from what I have seen so far, the Filipinos do shine the brightest. They look good on the table.

The reason why the audience stays engaged is because these Filipino players show the human side of the competition -- the thrill of the victory and the agony of defeat! They play their heart out, and do it with style!

What makes the Filipinos enjoyable to watch for me is their their sparkling tableside demeanor -- full of personality, flare, and a zest for the game. This is what pool is supposed to be all about.

With Corey Deuel out of the running, I can now pull for my favorite, and that is:
FRANCISCO BUSTAMANTE

Go, Bustie, go! You have comrades in the States pulling for you to make it to the winner's circle. Take no prisoners and show the rest of the world, the champion that you truly are! No one deserves it more than Bustie in my book. That's my story, and I'm sticking with it! :)

JAM,

I just saw your ad in the bottom of your posts for your MySpace...I checked it out before replying here. The way you have those pictures in there rotating, etc is awesome!
Congrats to you for a great page there! Nice job :)

As for Bustamonte, who could not root for him? I'll never forget how much anguish he was in in the 2000 WPC finals when he learned of his baby daughter's death. His eyes were glassy and vacant, yet he played on.
It seems to me that ever since then, he has a sadder look to his expression. I wish him all the very best in his quest for the title.

I'm also a big fan of Po Chen Kuo. Steve Davis has refered to him as the "29 year old 12 year old" for his very young looking appearance. But, he's a killer on the table, hence his nickname of "The Little Monster".
