Going to take some heat for this, but...

After watching Shane and MD for the last few weeks, it confirms my opinion that I would not have either of them on this year's MC if it were up to me. Shane is a lone wolf winner break package player and MD's cue ball is just not good enough for doubles play.

Are they the best players in America? Yes, without a doubt. But are they suited for MC format? Not in my opinion. Sorry. Probably sounds crazy, but there you have it.

I cant say if you are correct as I dont know, but I wont say that you are wrong in your assessments either. Both points you made about SVB and MD seem to fall true, but is that reason not to be on the team? I personally dont think so. Those aspects aside, they are our 2 best right now.

I think Mark Wilsons approach to making the USA side more of a 'team' was a great approach. Did they go about it a little corny with the navy seal motivational speaker guy? Yep, IMO they did. But the concept was rock solid. We (USA) need to go in there as a united front and be focused on the game, and on winning. I dont think there needs to be a side show component to it., just a bunch of guys in stroke, wanting to win for the pride of it.

Is Mosconi cup a team or a collection of individuals who happen to be playing together event? Until that is defined the rest doesn't matter.

On one hand it isn't football where some coaches put their 11 best players on the field. Successful football coaches strives for its best 11 that play as a team.

Hats off to Mark Wilson he's trying to put together a team of players that want to cut each throats for 11 months out of the year and for a brief period of time convince them to follow along with the plan Lombardi couldn't do it.

Good luck to Mark Wilson if he does anything other than win he will be criticized and if he wins credit will be given to his players. Managers aren't always leaders and some leaders don't lead.

As a courtesy to the rest of us - who is MD?

Not sure about van Boening not being able to play in teams, though. I think he needs a straight arrow as a partner, so to speak. You can see it in his eyes that he doesn't like to be around the gambler type of players. You'd just need to find someone he's comfortable around.
Did watch Mika Immonen and Petri Makkonen last night - Petri did a fine job of carrying Mika when needed - a great team.

Cheers!

You do realize SVB gambles (bets high too), right? I dont think he has an issue around gamblers. :sorry:

Ive met Shane, but dont 'know' him, so take this with a grain of salt. He has always struck me as a bit of a loner. Team stuff might not appeal to his sense of competition, who knows.

It was my perception, despite that I wasn't properly researching what he does.
Another one for the black list, I guess.

Yes, I'm rather frank and you might call it an insult because quite a few act like little naughty uneducated children that need a good spanking
Don't be too serious...

Back to topic: I'd like to see new blood for the Mosconi Cup.

Cheers!
