how can you tell the difference among them???
is there a difference in value assuming comprable condition??

I don't know all the differences. Just a couple. The GC Is do not have built in leg levelers, you have to do everything with shims. The GC IIs and IIIs let you turn the feet to adjust each legg up and down slightly.

The only other difference I know of is the ball boxes are different between the Is and the others. Can't really explain that, you'd just need pictures or someone to tell you which is which. Don't know if they are different between the IIs and IIIs.

Don't know much about the value difference either. Their all built so solid they last forever. The slate still seems to be in great condition on most of them. Main thing I check is the liveliness of the cushions.

I would say: don't get a III. There are lots of those around here all installed at the same time and all with problems. Among other things: the slates are not doweled (with brass pins from one section going into the adjoining one) and this can lead to unevenness more quickly. Other problems include cushions (many dead and dying, already), pocket liners, plating....

In general, the Gold Crown design (I-III) has lots of misfeatures that players have gotten used to, but there is no reason you need to put up with them (if you are looking for a table to play on).

It's been my experience that there's really no difference between any of the Gold Crowns, 1's 2's or 3's. The condition of the tables depends on the table mechanic's that have worked on them in the past. As for pinned & doweled slates not being available on the GC3's...guess what, they're not on the GC4's or GC5's either, so once again, the slate seams are a problem of the table mechanic, not the manufacture of the table. I've owned a lot of GC3's and never had a problem with them, other than yes, cushions going bad, but that's not limited to just the GC3's, I've installed new Brunswick Super Speed cushions on other GC's in the past, only to have to come back in less than a year and replace them because they turned rock hard.
