There is no 9’ new diamond on the planet that is 8000 USD MSRP. (To be 5k under the GC7 13,000). 10 years ago, yes. Not today. DCP just bought one 3 months ago. Maybe he will write what he paid.
Yes and no. Like it want it can afford it… no so insane. Better value is a Diamond.

I have a very tight GC III in my basement and grew up on GC'S.
Love them both.

Got my GC with a box and converted it to a drop pocket. Getting my steps in. Something about walking around the table and throwing balls out that just appeals to me.
I don't understand why a good table mechanic cannot convert a GC VII to drop pockets.

A good table mechanic will know where to resource them.
My 4 is easy to convert.... I'd want OEM if available. The only hiccup with drops is a 1P forgotten ball in a negative pocket....but not really a big deal. The other advantage with drops from the factory ...the table will be a few hundred cheaper.

I know. After 4 hours of one pocket I can easily make a free shot beautifully into my opponents pocket. He'll say that that is his pocket. I usually say,

I doubt a table mechanic will be able to convert at GC7 to drop pocket except by blocking the ball return track.
The molding of the pocket is very specific to the GC7. No one else will have that unless they make an injection mold at considerable expense. It's not like GC1-6 where both options were OEM, and the mechanic can just swap them afterwards in either direction if he had the correct parts. Now, if Brunswick does release drop pockets in the future, swapping them at that time would probably be easy.
Blocking the track would work, but how many balls would it hold in that case? Probably not nearly as many as a true drop pocket would, because they usually have a deeper bucket area to hold the balls.
I suppose with 3D printing these days, someone could cut the bottom of the existing pocket and add a 3D printed bucket to it. I just don't see anyone hacking up their 13k USD table to do that.

I ralise that my GC III is nothing like the VII but the return rails were removed, taken apart and set aside, when my drop pockets were installed.
Perhaps the return rails are inside of the table on the GC7 instead of underneath the rails.

For reference: my 9' Professional in black oak was $9250 before tax and install.
My 9Professional with PRC & Maple was about $1400 on top of that... Plus a waste of $500 for the set plus and additional $1300 to do it over plus it has to be done again. I started out ordering a GC6 but the order fell through. I bought the Diamond knowing I had recourse (Credit Card) if something went sour on the sellers end before delivery. I do not like the Diamond for few reasons...mainly appearance and the pocket liner surrounding the rail. If money was a factor I'd have gotten used, refurnished or Pro Am. I'd buy a Mark Gregory Centennial if one was available.
Isn't yours a Pro-Am, which is cheaper than the Professional? Diamond really picked stupid names that everyone confuses.
When did you get it? I know they have had price increases recently. And is it a Pro-Am or Professional?

Pricing is hard to compare though. We don't know if the Diamond or Brunswick price includes delivery and setup. And I'd assume the Diamond setup price is much higher if you order the 3 piece slate instead of the 1 piece slate, which would be necessary in many home installations.
Edit, and when asking people what they paid, we don't know if it included delivery and setup and tax either. It's like comparing car prices. There are so many charges, if you ask someone what they paid, you have no idea what their answer entails.
Diamond makes it tougher they don't even list an MSRP on their website, and never have.
I have the Professional (and a GC4).... Oh lord help me I must be somehow attached to Dr's C's P.
