Gold Crown Help Please

I have been looking for a Gold Crown for a little while and think I may have found a couple. Just wondering what I should look for to identify which model they are. I think they are GC1's and he is being extremely reasonable on the price for both. One is set up and the other is disassembled. one has ashtray inserts, does that matter? Is there a point where condition would make it prudent to not buy them? over the phone he describes one as very good and one as good. below is the one that is set up. any feedback would be appreciated.

Ask in the mechanics section - those guys will be able to tell you every little thing to help you ID the model.

Personally I would think the ash tray castings would be cool from a value standpoint. There seem to be fewer of them around. BTW, the table in the pic doesn't seem to have the skirts. Th GC1 and I believe the GC2 came with skirts under the aprons. I know many of them got tossed over time but you might want to check on that.

Definitely a GC 1, the formica on the rails looks to be in really good shape.

The white side skirts can easily be sanded and re-painted to improve the visual appeal to the table.

IMHO, the most important thing to consider beyond the visual appearance, which looks really good on this table is the condition of the slate. chips or cracks etc. Usually on the GC 1 the slate is high quality, really shouldn't have any warping issues.

Thanks for all the help. I did post in mechanics section. Renagade, that link had tons of useful cool information. I have appt wednesday to go look at them.

The ashtrays are a pain to play over...had to do it a lot in the 70's. I would keep them , but find plain ones to play with. Dont know much about GC1's. I have a GC III that I had all the castings...including the feet...powder coated...looks great and will last forever. Cost 5 yrs ago was $187 here in virginia. Just had new extended rails put on by Scruffy1....John burns. They play amazing! I think theses rails play a lot like a diamond...without the banking short part...lol...tks John, now I cant make 3 balls in a row...but I love to play on theses rails!
Good luck....I love GC's
