GOLD CROWN I slate

I went to look at a Gold Crown I today. The guy selling them has set one up (refinished) and has 3 more for sale. One thing I noticed was the slate drop at the pockets was angled similar to an antique table I once owned with the wooden corner inserts (similar angle that is). The playing surface measures 50x100. Is there any possible way this could have been a snooker table?
If not, is this slate angle at the pockets the way gold crown I's were originally manufactured?

I am no mechanic but I have 2 guesses.

1. Its not the original slate
2. Some silly person filed down the slate to make the balls fall easier.

Either way I would be leary of it.

Maybe see if the other tables are the same way, if not, tell him you want the slate swapped out...
