Gold Crown I

cobra: great info on early crowns!

Schaffer: i'm envious. up pics and tell us what you had to give, please...

Got it yesterday!!

First of all, I wanted to take more pictures than I did, but everytime I had an opportunity to take some good photos, I was too caught up in watching the guys work, that I kept forgetting to take pics. I did take some, though, and they are below.

Chris from Quality Billiards showed up and immediately started work on getting the table together. He is the mechanic who put the S/S on as well. He wasn't able to finish the rails off in his shop, so most of his time was spent finishing them off.

I'll let the pictured do the talking, but to sum the day up...Chris was an absolute professional, and an OCD perfectionist when it comes to his work (that is a good trait in a mechanic!). He worked smoothly and efficiently and had a great deal of knowledge about all tables, but GCs in particular. The table looks great, and plays even better. I played a few hours last night, and am taking a lunch break from playing today to get these photos posted. Chris is a member here, but he doesn't post often. So if you have technical questions, ask away, and hopefully Chris will post and answer.

Now..on to the photos:

Just getting started:

Ok job. Interesting staplework.
If you're satisfied with the work/table that's what matters.
I'm off to best buys to see if they sell a 40" monitor.

Pretty good work, but tell Chris to move his staples away from where he's stretching the rail cloth at and he won't get the stretch shadows or dimples in the nose of the cushions.

Easiest way to look at large pics is to hold down 'CTRL', and use the mouse wheel to shrink/enlarge text and pics.

Easiest way is to shrink down the size of the pictures before you post, holding down the 'CTRL' button using the mouse to shrink the pictures on my end don't work...so for the most part...I pass on looking;)

So, I am looking at buying a GC I. It looks to be in great shape to me, but I am certainly no expert.

Cushions are original Monarchs, and seem to have quite a bit of spring left in them. Corner pockets have ashtrays...number dials are the large size, and all work well. Cosmetically, it looks great, but what should I look for to see if it is structurally sound?

These pictures are the right size...what happend to the rest you posted?

different camera...1st are from my cell phone...others are from some sort of photo-buff camera that I can't work very well.

I think some of the lighting was affecting what you were seeing...there aren't any 'stripes' on the rails or bed...I took some more (and I tried to make them smaller...we'll see if it works. If it doesn't, I will just take with my cell phone from now on:

This is what he's talking about on the vertical part of the rail cloth -
