Gold Crown II Playability

I have a Gold Crown II. It's a boafide GC II; so, no issue here. Practically in perfect condition with solid cushions and recently replaced with Simonis 860HR cloth. I play at a club in a suburb of Chicago where they have 18 9' GC IV. My GC II plays great and is faster than the club tables because they have Simonis 860 which is slower. I have played on my table for the last two years. I am under the impression all GC play relatively the same. However, the GC IVs at the club play different. Its now driving me crazy. I prefer the GC IV. Am I missing something. I never thought I would prefer the GC IV over the GC II. The GC IV seems more solid. Can that be true. All feedback would be greatly appreciated before I dump a chunk on a new GC IV.

they play the same except your cloth is different
or perhaps the pocket size or set up

you have one of the best playing tables ever

Gotta go with dean on this one...

BTW - I don't think there are any 'new' GCIVs anymore

Those in that club may have been there a while
Sitting, and sitting, and just hardening up
Maybe that's just silly nonsense though

The Brunswick medalist, new ones, I play on at slick Willie's feel pretty rigid,

And I'd add that the rubber has been sourced from different places over the gc's history. There has got to be difference there.

Plus, you have tables that have been worked on a lot.

My favorite tables. Glad to have one.

Gc2 - gc4

Assuming the cushions on your GC2 are original, that would be one reason. The GC4 has a different size Superspeed cushion. They are 1/8" bigger. The pocket angles are different and the size of the pockets are tighter on the GC4 as well. I like the leveling system that is built into the frame for the slates as well. I prefer the GC4 over a GC2 any day. Finding a GC4 in great condition is totally possible. If you do go the GC4 route and need assistance, I can help you out. I have 2 clients in the Chicago area that I restored GC3's for. Link below is to my photo albums of my work:
