Gold Letter Joss

Ok, to keep in the tradition of my totally awesome threads (I know..I know...I rock!) --- here is my genius idea for today.

You know those awfully popular early to late 80's "Gold Letter" Joss cues. (the ones with the gold lettering on the collars which varied from, "JOSS PROFESSIONAL", or "JOSS CUSTOM"....and some were specially made for Sigel and Varner) Dan Janes made a variety of these cues. They were superb quality, looked really cool, and played great. I had an awesome J-17 and foolishly sold it!! (Ever get seller's regret? I've had it twice and I've learned my lesson!).

Anyhow, selfishly (as usual) I want you to post pics of your wonderfully nostalgiac (did I spell that correctly?) gold letter JOSS cues. I will enjoy seeing them, as my mind drifts back to yesteryear...when Sigel reigned supreme, and these cues were used by all of the "players" (at least in my area).

Ok..Ok..enough reading. Post those pics!!!! I'll see if I can hunt up pics of my old J-17 and slap some pics on here.

Ok..Ok...I'll put in the first pic.

It breaks my heart to look at this cue, and think I was stupid enough to sell it.

I think Mr. Toomanybugs bought it......and then GAVE IT TO HIS BROTHER. What the freak is that???? You could have given it back to me!!

Oh well.....some people (just kidding of course bugs).

BTW, if ANYONE has an identical cue to this one for sale let me know. I'm also interested in the other model JOSS with the floating ivory points, which were identical to Sigel's at that time....but the Butt on Sigel's cue was identical to the one on this one (guess so they wouldn't put out something exact to Sigel's at that time, and he would be the only one to own it).

Ok..all for now.

I'll see if I have some more to post.

What...you thought I was done?

This was taken from the Wright Cue Company website. They had the privelage of selling Sigel's JOSS cue that he won every tournament in site with. Maybe if he had kept it...he would win some IPT events. This is the cue you see him using on all of those great Accu-stats tapes. All of the 9 ball biggie wins? Yep, this one. That 150 and out against Mike Zuglan...yep, this one. And I think for the time it sold for a paultry 20K.

Notice, the butt is identical to the one on TOOMANYBUG's brother's J-17, but the points are different. Joss put out a model with these points but a different butt design.

Ok, enjoy the pics. I'll see what else I have.

This post has been up for an entire hour, and no responses. Did I not make it clear I want to see some pics??????? Lets make that happen. Thanks.

(Can you tell things our slow in the office?)

> The 150-out against Zuglan was done with the one that eventually replaced this one, which sold with his Kersenbrock break cue and case from the same era for 13,000. The one you showed was used in the 150-out against Rempe in 1989,but you were close. I agree with you 100%,that is a kickass cue. If I had the money to have bought the set,I swear I'd play with it. The period when these cues were made was the peak for Joss, not to say the ones now play bad, just that the ones from the mid/late 80's were just special, even the plainer ones. Tommy D.

Beat me to it Tommyd, My Uncle is the inventer and Manufacturer of the Ultimate cue tip tool, and he sponsered Mike from 90-93 and I know his cues very well. I had a one of a kind from 88, I got it in the 90's, and I'll tell you what, I too regret it's sale but, couldn't ignore the offer for it.
