Golf Billiards ! Need Advice.... on game!

Okay Dieckman is playing Golf Billiards at his place. I 've never play golf billiards need advice.

The game is more about defense than offense. The 3 hole is critical . When going for the 1 hole, it is better to cover your opponents ball than miss your bank and leave him an easy shot You want to force your opponent to bank to the 3 hole if possible and never an easy cross rail. Better to take a hickey than give up the 3 hole.

p.s.- be prepared to PAY for your golf lessons.

Hey Bob..get ready for some fun and trash talking..

Hopefully, esteemed members like jrhendy and Charlie Bond can possibly help out. I'm sure there are many other members who can add to the discussion, and are far more experienced at Golf than I am.

...see, rhino got in the game while I was still typing..

Whenever I am at Hardtimes, Bellflower, CA, I watch em play on the 6x12 and just shake my head at the high level of play.

I have never played 2 man or 2 balls(2 man or teams)...mostly 4-6 handed. 4-5 handed is about right, for an enjoyable game, for me.

Kinda like a band...you need the right group of fellas.

Guys that will 'protect the game', work together when the time is right to forego shooting at their hole, and feed the ball to take out or stymie the leader.

There are shifting sands of priorities and group cooperation. When to go for your hole, and when to be 'sheriff' or help the sheriff at end game. The right group gets it, wrong group argues a lot.

'Holding your man' can be a virtue, or an excuse for letting another player go, by not sending reinforcements.

Great game.

The variety I have played ...make holes 1-6 in clockwise succession. #1 is bottom right at the 'D' end. #6(out hole) is the side along the #1 rail.

Personally, I love the game, but am stuck lifetime about $1500....been hung out and sold out paying double several times following wrong guy:angry:and lost all on my own too many times, taking the wrong shot, or butchering the right shot.:angry:

Take it slow...learning costs. Play cheap while learning.;)

This is one pocket on steroids as far as patience goes. It is a great game. In my home town all the older city employees played every afternoon. Sometimes I got lucky and they would let the kid (me) play.

Good video

rhinobywilhite.- . I truly expect to pay high time for this lesson But Please let me know the best way to play Golf billiards??
Youtube only have this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bmsq9_cuhL0

Bob:

Watch and study the vid. Appears they're playing 50/5. 50 for bad hits/ie:hitting opponent ball, and for winning the game/5 for 'hickeys'/fouls...paid by loser at end.

A good example of forcing opponent into risking a bad hit when he has a ball hanging in the 5 hole at 17:45 of part 3.

Jimmy hits a very good shot to 'cover' SVB's ball at the mouth of the 5 hole, after SVB has bumped it to where it can be made and shape for the 6.(HT plays the holes counter clockwise)

The shot by Jimmy is a potential game saver..first he covered and left SVB long, secondly, the cb rolled to a perfect 'here comes the rest of it' snooker.

SVB had the option of shooting the cb away to a position that was difficult for Jimmy to shoot to his 3 hole...or shoot at his hidden ball . SVB shot, missed his ball, two railed the corner and hit Jimmy's ball. Ca-ching.

That bad hit cost SVB 50 (the price of the game) plus a 5 dollar hickey, and his ball comes off the table. SVB does a 'say what?' grimace as Jimmy 'splains it to him.

At 23:00 Jimmy snookers him again same way. SVB slow rolls and just misses his hanger.

This is a common tactic..easier said than done.

Bob...notice, once you are close to a hole, opponent may try to both leave cb on the wrong side of your ball, as well as his ball favoring the side of his pocket that will benefit from a slow roll bump of your ball closer to the mouth of your pocket.

Jimmy was spotting SVB the 3 hole...a strong spot.

Both these guys avoided the dreaded double kiss, that has killed me lots of times.

Enjoy...it's a great game. Strategic and trys the patience.:sorry:

I know that table is tight, but a top end pro-snooker player would often need just 1 shot to pot into all 6 pockets consecutively.

Oh my.

These corner pockets are about 1/8 inch wider than the balls. (2 1/8 american snooker balls IIRC)

Pretty tight.

Need to be directly in front of the pocket..

Is this how Golf Billiards Play

Shooting in Golf Pool

A shooter begins his turn in golf pool by placing his object ball on the foot spot.

The shooter then places the cue ball in the “kitchen”, or the area behind the head string on the billiards table. In England or a place with a snooker table, the shooter might be required to place the cue ball in the D area. The D-area is the semicircle found in the kitchen connecting to the head string line.

If a shooter pockets the object ball in the 1-hole, he or she places it on the foot spot again and tries to pot the ball in the 2-hole. This continues until the shooter misses. In this way, it is possible for the first player to win without the others getting a shot.

When the shooter misses, the next shooter takes a turn. This player shoots the ball from the kitchen or D-area. Please note that when a player misses, that player’s object ball remains on the table.

Each player gets to start their first turn by shooting the cue ball from behind the head string. After the first round of turns, though, the cue ball remains on the table wherever it comes to rest. If a player pockets the cue ball, the next player shoots from the kitchen again.

Special Snooker Rule

If a player commits a foul, then the next player to shoot is allowed to remove any balls that snooker or block his object ball. After the shot, the obstructing ball must be replaced.

This rule is one of the few times balls can be moved from the table in billiards games.

When one player legally pockets his object ball in the 6-hole, the game is over and that player wins.

Golf Pool Scoring

Each foul costs a certain point value. A foul point total for each player is kept. This count is usually called a hickey count.

Also, the player who ends the game by pocketing the ball in the 6-hole is also awarded a certain number of hickey points. These point values change from one house game to the next.

Once the game is over, players pay up by figuring out the difference in the various players’ hickey points. The relative difference is how the price is figured, with a set amount of money for each relative hickey point.
Golf Pool Fouls

If you knock any ball off the table, this is a foul in golf pool. Object balls are placed on the foot spot. The cue ball is ball-in-hand behind the head string.

If you pocket the object ball in the wrong numbered hole, this is a foul.

If you fail to hit your object ball first when shooting, this is a foul.

If you don’t contact a rail cushion with the cue ball after it strikes the object ball, or you don’t contact the cushion with the object ball after it was struck by the cue ball or you don’t pot the object ball, this is considered a foul.
