Golf video/strategy

:banghead::withstupid:I am trying to learn to play
golf on a very fast, very tight 5x10 on my own. Down about $800-$1000. Seems I am often the double paying 'sellout' to the winner.

Often, at the critical end stage, I find that there is no help from the guy I follow to allow an escape, or to takeout the leader (he won't try a take out-instead goes for his pocket(maybe the #3 hole) and leaves me no place to run or no position for me to attempt to take out the leader). I play bad enough on my own-I don't need any more 'non-help'.

Sooooo- I'm wondering if anyone knows of any educational Golf videos or books that I might benefit from. Possibly including recognizing 'partners' in the game or tip offs to players disguising moves that have costly consequences to the uninformed.

I know it costs $ to learn-the game/the 'gaming' within the game/and such. I'm looking to accelerate the learning process at a reduced 'burn' rate.

I think sometimes-when the sun comes up after an all night after-hours 6 handed game-people are tired and just want to be done--resulting in a sacrificial lamb. Often me-the new guy.

I like the game-I need to get better fast.

I appreciate any advice. And NO- YOU DON'T GET TO FOLLOW ME EVERY GAME. Can we draw the peas over again please.

All I know is Golf is a brutal game with a huge learning curve. If the person before you is burning you that is considered super bad form depending on how people in your room play. If you are trying to learn the game your best bet is to get in a partners game with a better player. This way they can show you thier thought process in different scenarios. Jumping in a 6 handed ring game where the person in front of you is leaving you in ridiculously tough spots is not gonna help you learn. It is just gonna cost you money.

I don't know of any books/videos about golf. If someone knows about some I would be interested too.

I don't think I've ever seen a book or an instructional video on the strategy on this game. Maybe there is one out there.

Unfortunately when the money is big enough there is a fair chance that there are partners involved.

In come cases when a players gets past the three hole the guy that he follows may start to panic and at this point he starts to put the guy that follows him into sell out position to keep from playing double.

Personally I don't like the paying double rule for many reasons. I think the game would be more competitive without that rule. I try not to get into games that I suspect may have buddies involved. It's hard for many to recognize the signs but an experienced player will know.

I have purposely put players into situations that dictate to them what they should do and if they deviate from that then I get suspicious. But then there is always the guy that is a bit slow and does not understand the game and will do bizarre things and then say "what?

The best is when you find a group of guys that play a good clean game and everyone has a good time.
