Good and bad threads on here?

So I created a thread called Friday night laughs and facts which got terrific responses from, I got more green rep for that one thread than I have gotten from all the rest combined. Yet when I just try to access it the thread has been deleted. There was nothing too improper to it, a few slightly crude jokes and a cuss word or two (I tried to edit them all). What I want to know, is why is my thread so bad that it gets deleted but the "funny gifs" thread is still going and at almost 800 pages and there are tons of mature content, pics of boobs, butts, and lots of other crude humor much worse than what was on my thread. So I would like to know what constitutes a thread worth being deleted? You can't use the whole "it has to be about pool" reason, because the funny gifs thread has lots not about pool. This is just my encounter with it and have heard of many others having threads deleted that were just fine to have up and lots of people liked them.

Probably because that thread remains pretty much self-contained. To spawn a personal thread for the same thing just adds to the clutter. I'm not saying that I didn't enjoy it, but it needs to be nipped in the bud before it gets out of hand. One where everything is concentrated is fine, adding more not so fine. Why not just add it to the funny thread?

Because that is a funny GIF thread, basically shortened or edited videos to be funny. These were just jokes, nothing more.
 
The way I see it...

The owners of the site have let the funny gif thread go because every forum needs one.

We have all seen threads disappear, I have seen them vanish and then reappear. Don't read to much into it>their forum-their rules.

I'd buy that train of thought but, they have let the open discussion thread go for 20 pages already. Why didn't that thread get nipped in the bud?
