Berry said "I have nothing to do with my son's business adventures and your only hurting yourself by not playing in the open". Well this answer seemed reasonable enough so I thought I might try to make an offer, I asked him for a trade meaning if I could use part of the $ his son owed me from the (2002 Mid- Atlantic) as an entry fee in the open ($500.00) to be exact.
I have to ask, once Barry said that he has nothing to do with his son's business adventures, what gave you the idea that he would accept your proposal? It is obvious, to me, that Barry is not covering Brady's debts.

I would suggest that you treat your debt with Brady and playing in Barry's U.S. Open as two seperate issues. Barry has no legal responsibility to cover Brady's debt.

Heres my 2 pennies...

Win the Open...pay your expenses. That money you didnt recieve shouldnt hold you back from your craft. Showing your above the monies owed, being what many pro players wont be...bigger than any tournament or promoter. I been around a long time, heard alotta bitching about this subject and others...it often makes me ask myself; "Who twisted your arm to become a pro pool player?" Musicians of the 60's were screwed out of Millions of dollars by promoters/managers and they NEVER stopped doing what they loved to do, see my point?

I can't tell you when brady realized that he was going to be short of money. but I do know from 1st hand experience that he got hit with a snow storm that probably kept people away and the weekend of the finals was super bowl weekend and that fact most likely kept people away. not me. i go to any tournament within a days (8-10 hours) away. besides, i get alot more snow here than they do in Va. turn out by spectators was lousy to say the least. But atleast he tried. He did not have the financial backing or financial support of his father. he did this all on his own. He tried to do something good for the players and it back fired a little. so his timing was off a little on the date....you.....................................mike

The point of my questions is that some players got paid and some did not. Who made that decision and when during the tournament (begining, middle or end) did Brady make that decision? Did the big name players like Archer get paid then he decided that he could get away with not paying lesser known players?

I sent Brady a PM in regards to these questions and no response. I was hoping that Danny could shed some light on this.

I have ran the tournament race

Well, the main issue here is that I will not be competing in the future as much, simply because I never did consider 9-ball to be the game of champions. My most favorite 9-ball tournament was when CJ Wiley picked me as a team member for the Masconi Cup and we reclaimed the Cup, I must add that there was a Doughboy on our team that year who is another great all-around talent and his name is Shannon Daulton. If it were not for him that year we might not have won, Shannon was on fire that week and was a major contribution to the team's efforts. Even though I don't agree with invitational tournaments I will not soon forget the 1995 Masconi Cup. I do hope that pool continues to grow including the UPA, that way I might too get paid some day. I'm not proud to be a professional pool player anymore and have worked too hard for very little reward, it is time for me to move on with my new career. I regret to say I will not be as able to answer the ask the pro questions anymore as it's time to remove myself from the forum. Thanks for all of your positive comments, I plan to go to College this season and there will not be much tournament pool in the picture for Danny boy. I am not giving up however I'll allways be a fan of pool, to anyone who knows some One Pocket players looking for action I will attend the DCC and will play One Pocket, Bank, and or 10-ball (2 shot push-out with no jump cue allowed) but there will be no nine ball period, the only form of rotation I will play is the ten ball. I look forward to seeing yall in Louisville but please do not ask me if I ever got compensated for my loss in Virginia cause I am going to quit pursuing this debt, if the UPA ever get's their act together and gets my $ from Brady then maybe they will send it my way. Adios and remember 'if it's on the wood it's good.'
Sincerely, 'little' Danny

Mr. Harriman, by now you know that practically all of us (including me) on the AZB forum want to see you get paid and also wish to see you realize your dreams as a professional pool player.

Then a gain, do you think you're the only one that's ever gone through this kind of heartbreak? I know many a person told they'd get a raise or bonus and didn't get it or got less than promised. I know consultants whose paychecks bounced because their consulting company's finances were near bankruptcy. I know countless people who've been hurt financially because others have lied to them, cheated them, or deceived them in business. Others have been promised promotions that never came, and still others have been told they'd get vacations and didn't.

The difference between all of them and you, or so it appears, is that they didn't lose any of their drive to succeed and didn't walk away from or become less committed to their respective careers because of these small setbacks.

Your choices would appear to be a) continuing to bemoan your situation and to publicly and mercilessly bash those that have wronged you, or b) to move forward and focus on accomplishing everything you can in your chosen profession.

If you prefer to pursue a different profession than pro pool, that is, of course, your choice. Wherever you intend to direct your efforts, however, if you allow these small setbacks to lessen your professional drive and ambition, you are only hurting yourself.

Mr. Harriman, it is time to turn the page and move on, so that you can start lessening the distance between you and your dreams. Winners never quit, and as you can tell from our posts on the forum, most of us think of you as a winner.
SJM, you know you really piss me off when you state the case so well. :p

Seriously, Danny, get back out on the tournament trail and start WINNING. That, MUCH more than bitching on an internet site, is the way to "get back at them".

Danny McGorty's quote about Willie Hoppe was pretty close to ..... "he didn't talk trash. he just walked out to the table and stuck the balls up their ass." I'm tellin' ya, that will make such a statement.

Take the high road, and be  . JMHO.

Here, here! Best of luck Danny and I'm sure if you apply yourself at school the way you have with pool, you will be a success in whatever you do.

Regards,
Koop

That's great news, and here's wishing you every possible success.......
and remember, even if pool didn't give you the kind of income and life you'd hoped for, it is the very same kind of commitment and drive that enabled you to acheive excellence over the green felt that will serve you well in all of your pursuits.
